hi,
see from the past years of recruitment positions released by DRDO is for scientist B positions, students or passed candidates of b.,tech course in relevant discipline are eligible to apply. however the recruitment vacancy and criteria would depends on the organization and their project . so it is not possible to predict the recruitment / vacancy would release for Imaging technology professionals.
however you should try for relevant private sectors and keep following the official site for latest recruitment.
Hey,
To apply for the Integrated PhD program at any IISER basic eligibility is 60% at your graduation level. Along with that you need to have good JAM score. For Integrated PhD in Physics JEST score is also accepted. Based on that you'll be shortlisted for interview. Now some IISER also have a written test for shortlisted candidates after which they select for interview.
In order to be shortlisted you need to first apply to your preferred IISER before deadlines.
Duration of integrated PhD is around 6 years. After completion of 6 years they will be given both master's and doctoral degree .
First four semesters that is two years is mostly course work after which doctoral research work starts. Students can also exit after successfully completing their two year course work. However, they will have to complete one more year of research as part of their MSc thesis.
As for direct recruitment in ISRO/DRDO, there is no direct placement by IISER. You'll have to look for vacancies and apply for position in ISRO on your own. You will surely be at advantage because of all the skills and knowledge you have gained at IISER. Applying and looking for vacancies you'll have to do that on your own.
I hope I have answered your questions.

See in the R&D sectors of government, the scientist collaborate with other scientist in the world until and unless anything they are working on is a top secret or knowing it can be a threat to national security. Thus if you have been alloted a project in DRDO you can't do that but if you wish to keep up your studies you can approach your seniors. Depending on your performance you will be sanctioned a study leave. This things are well often in R&D sectors.
Now you can also get chance to work in foreign laboratories. For example, in the particle accelerator (Large Hadron Collider) by CERN , many BARC scientist worked on the project about there detector physics and accelerator physics. So you can also get this kind of chance relevant to your field and obviously related to the defence perspective.
