Hello, my daughter studied IB diploma from an IB school in Tbilisi, Georgia. She had English, Bio and Chemistry as higher level subjects, whereas French, Economics and Math as standard level subs. IB does not allow all 3 sciences, so does my daughter qualify or is eligible for writing NEET exam?

Syed Ali 6th Jan, 2025

For your daughter to be eligible for the NEET exam , she needs to meet the specific eligibility criteria outlined by the National Testing Agency (NTA) . One of the key requirements for NEET eligibility is that a candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in their 12th grade (or equivalent) as mandatory subjects.

Here's the eligibility breakdown for NEET with respect to your daughter's case:

  1. Subjects in the IB Curriculum : Since your daughter has taken Biology and Chemistry at the higher level (HL) , this satisfies the requirement for Biology and Chemistry .

  2. Third Science : The key concern here is that Physics is not mentioned in the subjects she studied, and NEET requires Physics as one of the mandatory subjects in 12th grade.

Conclusion :

Your daughter may not be eligible to write the NEET exam unless she has completed Physics as part of her curriculum. However, if she can provide additional proof of equivalency, or if her school offers a possibility of appearing for the Physics exam separately , you may need to consult with the NTA or the Indian embassy for further clarification regarding the IB Diploma equivalency.

If she has the required subjects and is still uncertain, it's recommended to confirm with the NTA directly or refer to the official NEET eligibility guidelines for the most accurate information.

is it compulsory to learn maths to take BA economics in AMU and does BA economics come under AMUEEE or CUET?

Prachi Kumari 2nd Jan, 2025

Hello,

Mathematics is not compulsory for admission into AMU's BA Economics program , and the course does not fall under the AMUEEE.

To pursue a BA (Hons.) in Economics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU):

  • Mathematics Requirement: While Mathematics is not mandatory, having studied it in higher secondary education is advantageous due to the course's analytical nature.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must have completed Senior Secondary School Certificate or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Admission Test: Admission is based on the AMU Entrance Exam, not the AMUEEE, which is specific to engineering courses.
  • Entrance Exam Syllabus: The test assesses proficiency in subjects relevant to the BA program, including Economics, without a specific focus on Mathematics.

Hope it helps !

i want to do Ba hons in economics but did not had maths in my 12th standard but had economics will i be eligible

Sakshi Badoni 2nd Jan, 2025

Hello Greetings

The eligibility criteria for BA (Hons) in Economics vary across universities, but I'll provide general guidelines.

General Eligibility Criteria

1. *Class 12th percentage*: Typically, universities require a minimum aggregate percentage (e.g., 45%-50%) in Class 12th.

2. *Subjects*: While Maths is often recommended or required, some universities may not mandate it. However, having Economics in Class 12th is usually beneficial.

3. *Entrance exams*: Some universities require entrance exams like DU JAT (Delhi University), NPAT (NMIMS), or CUET (Christ University).

Universities That May Not Require Maths

1. *Delhi University (DU)*: For BA (Hons) Economics, DU doesn't explicitly require Maths in Class 12th. However, having Maths can be beneficial for the entrance exam.

2. *University of Calcutta*: The university offers a BA (Hons) in Economics without requiring Maths in Class 12th.

3. *Jadavpur University*: Jadavpur University's BA (Hons) in Economics program doesn't mandate Maths in Class 12th.

What to Do Next

1. *Research universities*: Look for universities that offer BA (Hons) in Economics without requiring Maths in Class 12th.

2. *Check eligibility criteria*: Verify the eligibility criteria for each university, including entrance exams, percentage requirements, and subject prerequisites.

3. *Reach out to universities*: Contact the universities' admissions departments to confirm their eligibility criteria and requirements.

While having Maths in Class 12th can be beneficial, it's not always a mandatory requirement. Focus on researching universities that align with your interests and academic background.

Have a great day

Hello Sir or Maam Can a person who has Bachelors degree in Economics Major be able to do Specialization in Cardiology.

Prachi Kumari 9th Dec, 2024

Hello,

Here is an overview :-

  • Educational Pathway Mismatch

    • A Bachelor's in Economics does not fulfill prerequisites for medical studies, such as foundational courses in biology, chemistry, and physics.
  • Medical Degree Requirement

    • To specialize in cardiology, one must first complete a medical degree (MD or equivalent), which typically requires a background in pre-medical or life sciences.
  • Additional Steps Needed

    • The individual must take foundational science courses to qualify for medical school.
    • After completing medical school, a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology are required.
  • Time and Effort

    • Transitioning from economics to cardiology would demand significant time, effort, and financial investment.
  • Eligibility for Career Change

    • While challenging, switching fields is possible with dedication, provided the individual is willing to complete the necessary academic and clinical requirements.

Hope it helps !
