Electrical Engineering
Hi,
Congratulations for your such rank. Hope you are doing great.
See, whatever you will choose, you will have to study it at least for next 4 years and you have to work on that through the rest of your life. So, I will advise you to choose according to your choice and liking on subject.
Now, if you look over other criteria, then NIT Trichy is the top NIT. But there you just get lower branch like Production. Students also take Metallurgy to be a lower branch. But due to that thought, it has been seen that now a days, there are a lot of vacancies remaining on Metallurgy in different companies. So I think it to be a great opportunity. Now, chemical, electrical and other core branches which you are getting in other NITs, are very good. Though core branches are evergreen branches, you must know that students of core branches have very poor opportunities in case of placement.
So think about all these criteria one by one. Talk to your guardians, if possible, then talk to seniors also who have studied engineering or are currently studying. And last but not the least, don't forget to think about your passion for a particular stream. Don't worry.
Hope this helps. All the best.
Srija

Shreya, the annual fee for the branch of electrical engineering depends on the college you opt for- whether it is a government college or a private one, whether you are planning to study in India or travel abroad.
If your JEE rank is good enough, TFW (tuition fee waiver) is something that can severely affect your fees, if you meet the eligibility criteria for the same (Note: TFW is a scheme offered by certain state governments, and by the central government-only for selected Tier-1 and Tier-2 colleges). Factors like caste category, physical impairment (if any) , hostel charges (if you're in need of one) will also have a impact on the fee.
Here are some instances of fees for B.Tech in Electrical engineering course for different branches (mentioned considering: Caste-General; Ph- None; TFW: Disabled)
IITs: Average of 2.3lpa
NITs: Ranging from 1.2-2.5lpa
IIEST Shibpur: Approximately 1.3lpa
VIT, KIIT, etc.: 1.75-4.25lpa
State-level Government Colleges: Approximately 10k (depending on the state)
Private Colleges: 90k-1.5lacs pa
