What id the difference between exponent and power

Debasmita Barik 30th Apr, 2018

Hi Owais,

Power is the combination of base number and exponent. In other words we can say that the product of continuous multiplication of same base number is called power whereas exponent represents the number of times the base number is to be multiplied together.

Hope this clears your doubt.

Thanks!!

What is the scope of power engineering in jadavpur university? I got 1616 rank in wbjee is it better to opt power engineering

Jayesh Makhijani 31st May, 2018

Hey dear Jadavpur university is one of top university in WB and it has great reputation for placements ,staff and exposure. As far as power engineering is concerned it’s good branch but has not sharp scope as Mechanical Engineering or IT or Cse anyday

  • So I would suggest you to think again before going for a stream that isnt much into bloom probably not good in India as far as other countries is concerned it’s pretty good specially Israel and Russia

Hope your cleared now

M.E is not available in power electronics ,Why?

Prabhavati Dhavala 8th Mar, 2018

Hi, I see you have tagged BITS HD in here. So this decision is entirely dependent upon BITS. They have the discretion to offer the programmes they wish to. There is no explanation for this unless you write to them to ask about it. You could do that you know if you wish to know the reason.

fee structure for mtech in power electronics

Kunal Kr. 23rd Feb, 2018

In most of the college the fee structure will vary around 3-3.5 lacs per annum this includes only the private colleges like Manipal Institue of technology, PESIT Bangalore, and many more colleges

coming from the government aided or elite government colleges the total fee for two years is around 3.5 lacs and is very cheaper as compared to that of the private colleges

even in government colleges they provide you with stipend at the end of every month which may amount to 12k per month

all the best!!!!

How is mtech in power electronics and power systems regarding placement hostels and research work etc.

Sk Arif Ahmed 11th Mar, 2018
Not quite well bro..

This year only6got placed out of12in power electronics and12out of19in power system(not all placed in core). But companies like Texas and qualcomm (for power electronics) visited for campus placement and offered 16 lpa but none of the student able to crack the interviews. Tata motors (9 lpa) and Siemens (6 lpa) were some of good companies. But you also get the advantage of IIT campus as a large number of companies do visits campus every year for different profile (e.g. coding, management, universities for teaching profile, consultancies and allows both the branches). But yes core placement is very less. Opportunities are here in core too but depends on your current knowledge as competition is there.

Further if u are confused between power system and power electronics, ill suggest u to opt for power electronics (if you serious about M.Tech.). Power system is almost saturated. New research is there in power electronics and its very interesting. Of course chances in govt. sector is slightly greater for power system specialization
