Not the marks calculation will be different for mains and CET

Mains have negative marks while CET doesn't have Negative marks.

So rank will be dependent on the marks scored in the exam.

I think ranks cannot be guaranteed on marks because the range of ranks for specific marks keeps changing every year based on various factors

Ranks depend on level of paper, highest score etc

I am sorry to say but by getting just qualifying marks won't take you to IITs, you need to have at least some more marks than the margin score.

As of NITs it all depends on your Jee Mains rank. All factors like category rank and state quota
