I got 88.9 percentile in Jee Mains 2020. I am in GEN EWS category and from UTTAR PRADESH. What college I can get on this score?

ayanmukherjee045 27th Oct, 2020

Dear aspirant,

According to your jee mains percentile and taking into consideration that you are from general category and also your home state is Uttar Pradesh.

It is impossible for you to get any seat in your home state nit as the cut off for mnit allahabad is too high and your percentile is low.

Here is a link for college predictor-

Sir I belongs to ews category and I got 75 percentile can u predict any college or this percentile is enough to get NITs

Hilag Shah 3rd Oct, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

With 75 percentile you have not cleared the cutoff of JEE Mains 2020 for GEN EWS and hence getting admitted into NITs and IIITs will not be possible and as for the other part you can get into some descent private engineering college like SRM,DIT(Pimpri),MIT WPU, Bennett University, etc.will be some of your top choices. So Best of luck.

To choose from the best colleges you can also use the following link-

i got 25650 rank by EWS category in jeemains and i didnt get seat in 1st and 2nd counseling andi kept my 1st preference as NIT surathkal cse so in which counseling i can get the seat

Tarreni Behera 22nd Oct, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

Getting admission into NIT Surathkal needs a much better rank. In order to know what it's cutoffs are with respect to last year, I suggest you to click on this url:-

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff-for-nit-surathkal/amp&ved=2ahUKEwjmpJCsj8fsAhVszzgGHUP1ByUQFjACegQIARAG&usg=AOvVaw0fkQmh9l75j1_cemAgATJ_&ampcf=1

This shall serve as a good indicator about where you stand right now. The link also shows the cut off ranks for reservation seats as well. So you can see, that unless you have a good quota rank, it seems highly unlikely that you will get a seat in NIT Surathkal that too in computer science engineering which requires even better rank. Therefore, I am not quite sure that you will get NIT Surathkal in third Counselling.

However, you may want to look other NITs that are also good and also within the range of your Jermain rank. In order to know which colleges might be good enough for you, I may suggest to refer to the url:-

This shall give you list of colleges that suits your rank. In case, you want to compare them on merit, you can click on this very link:-

I would suggest you to pick a college that provides better placement prospects and skill oriented education and also better exposure to industry.

Good luck.

i got 82 percentile in jee mains 2020. i am from general ews category. is there any chance getting into any of decent NITs? I am from Andhra Pradesh. And the rank in ews category is 28323

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 12th Sep, 2020

You haven't mentioned  the Home State you belong to. Nevertheless, going by previous years data, the chances of you securing a seat in various Colleges are as follows:

Terna Engineering College

MGM's College of Engineering

Pillai College of Engineering

NIT's are a tad difficult with this rank. Now this is based on 2019 data and cut offs change every year. Cut offs depend on various factors such as total no .of seats available, difficulty of the exam, previous year cut offs, no.of Candidates appearing for the exam and no.of Candidates applying for a course. In female EWS category at 89.74 percentile which nit can I get?

Naman Raturi 29th Sep, 2020

Hello There ,

According to your rank and category ,it would be difficult to get a good nit or iiit . However you can try for some iiit's like pune , bhagalpur , una , surat , kalyani etc which have a lower cutoff , otherwise you can try for your home state nit also , as the cutoff is generally lower , also you can go for north eastern nit's , as the cutoff is generally lesser . Some good colleges like bit mesra and pec chandigarh also participate in josaa , so you can get a decent branch like production etc , in them . Gfti's like bit and pec are well established and have a good alumni network .

You can also apply for your home state counselling also as you can get some good state government engineering colleges in your state . CSAB round is quite unpredictable so you can get a seat in a decent college in that .

Hope it Helps .
