how tough to get admission into FMS delhi for mba?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 1st Dec, 2020

FMS Delhi usually has the highest cut offs for its 285 seat intake. FMS is one of the premiere Institutions and hence the admission process is never easy. The selection process includes 3 stage method. They are:

Eligibility Criteria
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Final Selection

The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2018, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:

QA: 30%

DILR: 30%

VARC: 40%

An additional 3 marks are added to the Composite score in case of women for shortlisting. This score is used only for shortlisting Candidates for Personal Interview. The weightage for Final selection is as follows:

Personal Interview: 15%

CAT score: 60%

Group Discussion: 10%

Extempore: 5%

10th marks: 5%

12th marks: 5%

An additional 3 marks of the maximum aggregate will be added to the women candidates who have attended the Interview. Now with all this process, the cut offs is an important issue to be discussed. Previously FMS used to consider overall CAT score for shortlisting. However since the past 2 years, FMS has been giving sectional preference and weightage. VARC occupies the top position with 40% weightage. A Candidate with at least 97 sectional weightage will be shortlisted at FMS. So it is important to focus more on VARC section while not leaving other sections. Higher cut offs are due to the intensity of the competition at FMS, Delhi. Their placements speak for themselves. FMS, Delhi concluded 2018 placements with an average placement package of 22.60 Lakhs for Women Candidates. Out of a batch of 223 Students, 215 participated in Placements and all of them have been placed there. This year, FMS might conduct the PI round online and scrap the GD Round owing to the Pandemic. Maximum weightage is given to Personal Round of Interview. If you look at the seat matrix for 2020, ,

General: 101

EWS: 29

OBC: 73

SC: 37

ST: 19

CW: 12

PWD: 14

Total: 285

why so many students opt out of FMS this year and 12th waitlist was released. does it happen every year. Wht about FMS excecutive MBS how many waitlist candidates can get a chance?

Nandhini M 16th Nov, 2020

Hi Aspirant ,

Waiting list at FMS consists of 487 candidates this year. Last year this list had 379 candidates. The longer list is prepared foreseeing more candidates moving up to the main list. For candidates paying up at various places, it is an expensive proposition. FMS is sensitive to that requirement of the candidates.” During the past years many candidates from the waitlist got the chance to pursue MBA from FMS Delhi and year 2016 is no exception. Accordingly longer waitlist has been prepared by FMS Delhi.  The category wise waitlists have the names of candidates in order of merit and not in alphabetic order. Accordingly, the top 25 candidates in General category, top 10 in OBC category, top 5 in SC category, top 3 in ST category, top 2 in CW and 1 in PWD category among the waitlisted ones may expect to receive the final admission offer from FMS Delhi in the 3rd week of May 2016.

Hope this helped !

I have registered myself for 2021 admission. But not yet received any kind of approval or login details. So, I am unable to complete my registration process. I mailed admin as well for the issue but no response from the other side. Any idea how to resolve this?

Anuj More 8th Nov, 2020

Dear Candidate,

You may try contacting the college authorities via call. It gets difficult for the administrative people sometimes to miss out on important emails because of the number of emails they receive. You may wait for 2-3 days & call them on their helpline number. If it doesn't help, you may directly contact the principal of the mentioned college via call or email. Have your parents talk with them & make the principal aware of them not contacting you for your query. Or for that matter, you may find any faculty members number on various platforms.

Hope this helps.

Hi aspirant,

Let me make one thing clear. The only thing that you can stop you from getting admission in these reputated institutions is the same who can get you admission. It is you.

Always remember your will power is the one standing between you and your  admission in these colleges.

Now you have already appeared for 12th and youu cannot change that. What you can change is your tenacity and your urge to succeed.

Now I am not a motivational speaker, but you need to realize that if you preapre well and score high marks and acheive high rank, you will definitely get admission in these colleges.
