I scored 10 CGPA in 10th, 85.2% in 12th(Mon-Medical), 55% in graduation(BTech) appearing. I got 92.65 percentile in CAT 2020. I am OBC-NC. Can I get a call from FMS?

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 3rd Jan, 2021

Hi Dear,

FMS Delhi releases composite score and cut off for giving calls for GDPI/ WAT round. The composite score is computed by giving ceratin weightage to different sections of CAT as mentioned below:

  • VRC :   40%
  • DI/LR  :  30%
  • QA  :  30%

As per the details mentioned by you, you have chances of getting a call from FMS.As per past year cut offs Faculty of management studies gives calls to obc category students at 91% percentile. However, The final selection is based on GDPI and WAT round. Also, the competition is really tough there , so you need to work hard for converting the college.

Hi, my percentile in cat is 58.99 (VARC- 13.53, LRDI- 97.45, quant- 29.52). My 10th and 12th % are 94.3 and 90.2 respectively. Graduation gpa - 8.6. I have 18months of work experience in IT Sector. I am SC. Which colleges can I get? Is there any possibility of getting call from FMS, Delhi?

Abhishek Roy 2nd Jan, 2021

Unless you have certain categorical advantage, in spite of having fair academic record as well as a work experience, with a Percentile of 58.99 in CAT 2021, you may have bleal chances in securing admission in Top Management Institutes like IIM, FMS, etc. I would advise you to work on VARC and Quant and prepare for CAT Next year. You need mininum 70-80 percentile to secure your call from standard Management Institutes.

Given, FMS Delhi has 12 seats for CW category. What are the chances of someone belonging to CW6 category to make it through? Do all the seats fill out before it reaches CW6?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 14th Dec, 2020

The selection process includes 3 stage method. They are:

  • Eligibility Criteria
  • Group Discussion and Personal Interview
  • Final Selection

The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2018, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:

QA: 30%

DILR: 30%

VARC: 40%

An additional 3 marks are added to the Composite score in case of women for shortlisting. This score is used only for shortlisting Candidates for Personal Interview. The weightage for Final selection is as follows:

Personal Interview: 15%

CAT score: 60%

Group Discussion: 10%

Extempore: 5%

10th marks: 5%

12th marks: 5%

An additional 3 marks of the maximum aggregate will be added to the women candidates who have attended the Interview. Now regarding the CW seats, it also depends on your CAT percentile. Though the CW level matters, it is your Academic profile and also CAT percentile that play a role. To be considered for FMS, you will need nothing less than 97 percentile. If you can manage that and have a decent Academic profile, you can make it to FMS.

While filling fms form in obc category, they are asking for caste/category certificate, does this mean non creamy layer certificate or the caste certificate itself?

myidshivanisrivastava 13th Dec, 2020

Hello Vishal,

While filling the application form, keep ready all your documents like Mark Sheets from class X onwards; category certificate, if any, scanned photograph & signature of required size to upload on the FMS Admission application form.

The category certificate to be provided here means the caste certificate itself. Do not get confused with the non-creamy layer certificate.

Hope this answers your query. Feel free to ask more doubts.

Have a good day!!

i have 57 percentile in cat and in 10th -7.6 cgpa , in 12th - 78 % , in graduation -73 percent also belongs to sc category , do i have any chances to get a call from fms delhi ?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 8th Dec, 2020

To be honest, anything less than 95 percentile in CAT is going to be less for being shortlisted for FMS irrespective of the Academic profile that you have built up.  A Candidate with at least 97 sectional weightage will be shortlisted at FMS. So it is important to focus more on VARC section while not leaving other sections. Higher cut offs are due to the intensity of the competition at FMS, Delhi. Previously FMS used to consider overall CAT score for shortlisting. However since the past 2 years, FMS has been giving sectional preference and weightage. VARC occupies the top position with 40% weightage. FMS Delhi usually has the highest cut offs for its 285 seat intake. FMS is one of the premiere Institutions and hence the admission process is never easy. The selection process includes 3 stage method. They are:

Eligibility Criteria
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Final Selection

The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2018, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:

An additional 3 marks are added to the Composite score in case of women for shortlisting. This score is used only for shortlisting Candidates for Personal Interview. The weightage for Final selection is as follows:

CAT score: 60%

Group Discussion: 10%

Extempore: 5%

10th marks: 5%

12th marks: 5%

An additional 3 marks of the maximum aggregate will be added to the women candidates who have attended the Interview.
