what is the percentage required in CAt to get FMS Delhi when i have a 10th. 84% and 12th 73 %. Graduation 76%.? if not which institute will i get based on my percentage?

Yash 30th Oct, 2024

There is no fixed CAT percentile to get admission to the MBA programme offered at the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi . The institute assigns different weightages to the scores of different sections of the CAT for the purpose of shortlisting candidates for the Interview process and for the final selection to encourage diversity across various disciplines.

A weighted score is computed by FMS Delhi giving weightages of 40%, 30%, and 30% to the scores of VARC, DILR and QA sections respectively. An additional 5 marks shall be added to the weighted score in case of women candidates for the purpose PI shortlist. Following criteria is used for the final selection:

  • Weighted CAT score: 50%
  • Marks obtained in Class 10: 10% (60% and above but less than 75%: 5%, and 75% and above: 10%)
  • Marks obtained in Class 12: 10% (60% and above but less than 75%: 5%, and 75% and above: 10%)
  • Discussion on Statement of Purpose: 10%
  • Extempore: 5%
  • Personal Interview: 15%

Additional 5 marks for women candidates who appear for the PI.

Even a 99 percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get a shortlist for the GDPI process. But, if you belong to the reserved category, then you might get an Interview call at a lower percentile. Your final selection to FMS Delhi will depend upon a number of factors apart from your performance in the CAT.

Your Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation percentage does not help you directly to get admission to any business school. Only some weightage is given to them while selecting candidates for further admission process or final selection. To get admission in any of the top college you must appear for the management aptitude test and must perform well during WATPI/ GDPI process.

can I get admission in FMS Delhi with 85 percentile in cat 2023

Tanya Gupta 28th Jan, 2024

Hello,

FMS considers the overall score of the CAT along with the sectional scores to shortlist candidates for the final round of selection. In order to be eligible for consideration, students need to score equivalent to or higher than the CAT cutoff set by FMS, Delhi. The average cutoff percentile at FMS is usually 98 or higher.

Hope this helps,

Thank you

In std 10 i got 53% and in commerce std 12 i got 66% ,Can i get admission in good mba college like IIM and fms etc .. ,And which exam like cat or xat better for low academic students??

Yash 4th Oct, 2024

Hi!

The marks obtained by you in Class 10 and 12 will not hamper your chances to appear for the entrance examination. In order to appear for the CAT , candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates who belong to SC, ST, and PwD (PWD) category).

However, marks obtained by you in Class 10 and 12 will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI/ GDPI rounds, and during your final selection. These scores will be used by business schools while calculating the composite score. Some business schools give a lot of priority to your Class 10 and 12 marks while some business schools don't even consider your past academic record during the selection process. Therefore, you have good chances to get admission in good MBA colleges subject to the condition that you must perform well in the entrance examination followed by the WATPI/ GDPI process.

Further, you can appear for any entrance examination such as CAT, XAT , etc. subject to the condition that you must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for that particular examination.

can i take direct admission in fms for mba

Sajal Trivedi 30th Sep, 2023

Hello aspirant,

FMS New Delhi does not offer direct admission to any applicants, just like any other top-ranked college in India for obtaining an MBA. Only the lower-ranked universities provide direct admission. Admission to colleges in FMS is solely determined by merit.

The CAT is the only route to the FMS. There isn't another option. On their website, you may view the breakdown or the weighting assigned to various sections. They used to weight the CAT percentile at 85%, but they have since decreased it .

Thank you

Hope this information helps you.

hi I am Kajal Mera 10th class mein 5.4 CGPA aaya tha 12th mein 45% aaya hai graduation mein 6.6 CGPA aaya hai aur suppose Mera cat mein achcha score a Gaya kya main FMS Delhi ya iim college mein admission le sakti hun kya

Yash 11th Oct, 2024

Hi!

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the first and the most important component to get admission to best institutes such as FMS Delhi or IIMs. In order to get admission to any of these institutes, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. However, scoring a mere percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call from these institutes as they have a very complex admission process.

These institutes give consideration to a lot of factors while giving an interview call to candidates. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. If you even score a great percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm Interview call. However, if you belong to the reserved category, then there are good chances of receiving an interview call from IIMs and FMS even at a low percentile.

Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the criteria for admission to these institutes. The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI/ GDPI rounds and during your final selection. Therefore, you have good chances to get admission in FMS and IIMs subject to the condition that you must perform well in the CAT followed by the WATPI/ GDPI process.

Hey nikhil! Thanks for contacting careers 360.

Congrats on getting good scores.

Earlier, the fms used to have a cutoff on the basis of it's own test. But now the fms cutoff is based on the cat score. The fms cutoff is used to shortlist candidates for group discussion and personal interviews before admission.

The fms cutoff score has increased to 99 Percentile score in the cat.
