Do I stand chance for old IIMs and FMS with 10th:95%, 12th:87.4%, Btech (ECE):73% (SC Category Fresher) ? If yes, then what %ile do I need ?

Ambika Barman 11th Jan, 2019

Hey!

You do have fair chances of making into the top IIMs above 92 percentile. Utilize this opportunity and prepare well, you have a better opportunity than the open category to clear it. Even in FMS, you won't need more than 96 percentile. Rest depends upon the second round. Best wishes!

my 10 67% 12 51% B.A 71 pgdca(distance) 65% expected cat score 88 to 95 percentile . Sc category can i get calls from old iims or fms ???

Suraj Mallick 7th Jul, 2018

You will definitely get a call from FMS. As FMS does not give high weightage to academic records for selecting students so with 90+ percentile you will have a very good chance of converting the call.

FMS, Delhi has closed there registration portals. Was i suppose to register even if i am waiting for my cat results?

Amod Tripathi 12th Dec, 2017
Yes FMS Delhi closes its application form before the CAT results itself and it has not been reopened in last years. Other institutions like MDI Gurgaon have been doing the same.

You can apply for the following top B Schools after the declaration of your CAT results as their forms open after the results.

NITIE MUMBAI
SJMSOM IIT BOMBAY
DMS IIT DELHI
VGSOM IIT KHARAGPUR

OTHER IITs School of Management

Best college to apply with 90 to 95 percentile CAT for SC student. X and XII low 80s and grad btech 72.5 and chances for old IIMs and FMS?

Gaurav Shukla 29th Dec, 2017
Hello
Well your academics looks decent to me and if you get a really good percentile then your are chances are very bright.
The CAT 2017 result is expected to be declared in the second week of January 2018. With the help of the CAT answer key, released for the first time by IIMs, test takers can gauge their score with the help of which, they can estimate the percentile as well. For those who are expecting to secure a percentile between 90 to 100, they can indeed hope to receive calls from one of the top B-schools in India and fulfil their MBA dream. The feeling of being in the league of toppers in a competitive exam likeCAT, taken by around two lakh candidates, is indeed unparalleled. Having secured a place among the top 10 percent test takers with 90 percentile or above deserve to be in the dream B-School namely IIMs, FMS and the likes. Although CAT toppers will receive a plethora of calls from B-schools across tiers owing to your high percentile, they should not select anything but the best for yourself. While applying to a B-School whose cutoff is 99 percentile would not get a CAT taker with 92 percentile a call, similarly, there is no point in applying to an institute whose CAT cutoff is 90 percentile if his/her percentile is 99.
I wish you all the best for your cat results.
All the best.
Cheers !!

What r the role of work experience of cat iim colg during cutoff or selection process or FMS colg

Akshay Kadam 26th Nov, 2017

After CAT exam every IIM prepares a merit list to call students for next round of interview based on your aggregate score which comprises of many parameters such as CAT marks, 10th, 12th and graduation percentage, work experience, engineer or non-engineer, gender whose weight varies for all different IIMs. In this work-experience weight is generally from 5-10%. There are few IIMs like IIm Bangalore and IIM Kozhikode which gives a little more weight to work experience.

FMS is one of the few among the top reputed colleges which does not have any weight for academic records and work experience. FMS has 85% weight of CAT marks, 10% of the Personal interview, 5% for extempore. And from last 2 years, it has started giving additional 3% weight to girls. So, in short, to get an admission in FMS you need to aim for a very high percentile around 99 percentile to get a call and 99.5+ to be on safe side of getting admission.

Work experience definitely has its perks during selection and also during placements is not mandatory for doing MBA. In every college, there are 20-30% freshers.

What is the selection process of FMS Delhi? Does it consider 10th and 12th marks like some of the IIMs in selecting an individual?

Vaani kamboj 6th Sep, 2018

10th and 12th marks is just a percentage nothing as.Just make it clear in your mind that you have to crack CAT at any cost and do hard work for IIMs . Remember that one sheet of marks cannot decide your future ,if you score 98-99 percentile in CAT by that day noboday will ask you about you 10th and 12th ..

Your parents did many sacrifices now it's your turn to make them proud ..
