Questions from forensic pharmacy, manufacturing pharmacy, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, hospital and clinical pharmacy, anatomy, physiology, and health education are included in the UPSC Drug Inspector Syllabus and are frequently seen in the test for drug inspectors. Questions on current events, everyday observations, and personal experiences with scientific fields of study may also be included in the general article.
The applicants will get an idea of the question paper and question format to the SPSC LDC Exam Pattern. This will help the candidates decide how much of the curriculum to concentrate on and how much time to devote to each topic. As a result, applicants had to study the curriculum thoroughly and be ready for the test.

The basic eligibility criteria for becoming a food inspector are as follows;

  • Age: Candidates aged between 18 and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for the post of Food Inspector.
  • Educational qualification: Candidates with completed graduation in medicine or have a bachelors degree in agriculture, pharmacy, food technology and dairy technology.
  • Procedure of Selection:- Candidates will be selected based on performance in written test and interview.

UPSC All India Food Inspector Exam

Union Public Service Commission directs All India Food Inspector Exam for recruitment of food inspectors in various officies around the country.This is a national level exam consisting of technical and aptitude based questions. The exam will be conducted at examination centers in every district of each state.

Educational qualification: Aspirants possesing any of the following qualifications are eligible to apply for UPSC All India Food Inspector Exam

- Graduates in medicine with one year training in food inspection.
- Bachelors degree in science stream with chemistry as a compulsory.
-Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture / Public Health/ Veterinary Science/Dairy Technology/Pharmacy / Food Technology

Candidates possesing any degree equivalent to those given above are eligible to apply.

Pattern of exam:-

The test pattern comprises of questions on technical side, which includes science subjects. It also consists of numerical ability and GK questions. There will also be an English language test. The duration of the exam will be 150 minutes. Aspirants need to be very careful in attempting unknown questions, as there is negative marking for incorrect answers.

Yes, ofcourse you can opt for Food Inspector Exam.

Candidates must have minimum Bachelor's degree in relevant field from a recognised Institute. Education Qualification changes from Post to Post. Also age criteria is different for different State Good Inspector exams. In some State the maximum age limit is 30 years and relaxation is given for reservation category candidates.

According to eligibility criteria for a job of food inspector if you have completed a Masters degree in either of the following options then you are eligible for the job:

A Masters Degree in Chemistry / Biochemistry / Food Technology or Food Science / Edible Oil Technology / Microbiology / Dairy Technology / Agricultural Science / horticultural Sciences / Industrial Microbiology / Toxicology / Life Science / Biotechnology or Food Safety & Quality Assurance.

The average approximate salary is around Rs 21,000 per month.

I have completed masters in Analytical chemistry and I am working in pharmaceutical industry.. I am interesting in this field.... can in apply for food inspector with master in chemistry degree

Yes, after completing your Masters in Chemistry you can apply in different food industries and they will initially appoint you as a trainee and with gradual experience and knowledge you can become food inspector as well. However for the M.Sc Chemistry students the best field to work is in Quality Control Department of any Pharmaceutical Company. M.Sc Chemistry also gives you opportunity to work as food inspector.

How can i become a food inspector abroad after completing B.tech in Food Technology?

Dear Student,

After completing B.tech. in Food Technology, to become a food inspector, there are two options in front of you.

Option 1: After the completion of a bachelor’s degree, you can start working with an entry-level role. It will provide you with the experience and industry insights. After a few years, you can further resume study and opt for a master’s degree. A master’s degree is considered more valuable, if you apply for senior roles.

Option 2: After completion of your bachelor level programme, you can further continue your studies without any gap in the academic year. And after its completion, you can start working in the industry.
