A food inspector inspects the food processing entities, manufacturing companies, restaurants and dairy farms to collects samples for investigating the quality of food ingredients and preservatives being used in the food product to be sold in the market.

The most popular exam conducted for the recruitment of food inspectors is the All India Food Inspector exam conducted by Union Service Public Service Commission. There will be designated examination centres in every district of each state.

The graduates from Food Tech, Biochemistry , Agriculture, Biotechnology, Microbiology , Veterinary Science and a few other courses are eligible for the post of food safety office

There are many certificate and internship available which will lead the career in the better way.

after doing bca we can go for food inspector

The eligibility for Food Inspector (General eligibility) is -

  • Graduation in medicine or have a bachelors degree in agriculture, pharmacy, food technology and dairy technology.
  • Candidates aged between 18 and 25 years of age are eligible to apply for the post of Food Inspector.

Now the eligibility for UPSC ALL INDIA FOOD INSPECTOR EXAM:

  • Graduates in medicine with one year training in food inspection.
  • Bachelors degree in science stream with chemistry as a compulsory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture / Public Health/ Veterinary Science/Dairy Technology/Pharmacy / Food Technology

Thus if you have chemistry as one of the subjects in BCA then you can apply for it. Else you aren't eligible for the examination.

Can we give exam of food inspector after hotel management degree?

Hey,

A food inspector is a government official who examines the safety and quality of food products, as well as the ingredients used in their manufacturing, the sanitation of the equipment used, and the location where they are produced.

Generally, the eligibility criteria for Food Inspector marks that candidates need to have completed their bachelors degree in the field of medicine, food technology, pharmacy, agriculture , dairy technology or any other relevant degree are eligible to appear for the Food Inspector Exam. The general age criteria for a food inspector is between 18-25 Years.

Hello,

Yes you can be a food inspector. The main criteria for a food inspector

  • The age between 18 to 25 years.
  • You have to a valid certificate for food related study or training.
  • He or she must be Indian.

I hope you will match all these above criteria then you are eligible for a food inspector. For food inspector central government and every state government organised examination. You have to give this examination. When vacancy available you can give the examination and qualify the examination and interview round you will be selected.

But I'll suggest you that you can go for MSc. Because if you completed your masters in clinical Nutrition and dietetics then you become more knowledgeable person in this course. So your chances are quite high. Because in government job competition very high. Now final decision always been your. Think and proceed.

You can become a food safety inspector after clearing UPSC, FCI or FSSAI examination. It is a qualifying exam conducted by FSSAI for in-service candidates to sign the analytical report of food products of FSSAI notified Food testing laboratory for legal purposes. The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in a relevant discipline like B.Sc/ B. Tech in food technology/ dairy technology/ biotechnology/ agriculture Science/ biochemistry etc from a recognized institute.

Candidates who aspire to become food inspectors are required to be permanent residents of India. They must be minimum 21 years when they apply for the exam also you should check age limit before applying as it may change . In order to write the food inspector examination, the candidates must be graduates in the field of food safety/food technology. Those who have taken chemistry, biology or agriculture are also eligible to appear. There are numerous entrance exams that are being carried out for the recruitment of Food Inspectors like UPSC Entrance Exam, All India Food Inspector Entrance Exam, and Punjab Food Supplies Department Entrance Exam.

Food Inspectors are given a salary in between of Rs.35,000/- to Rs. 40,000/- initially with some perks.

These are the steps you could follow to become a Food Inspector:

The minimum eligibility criteria to choose a job role as a Food Safety Officer is given below:

  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree or a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline like B.Sc/ B.Tech in food technology/ dairy technology/ biotechnology/ agriculture Science/ biochemistry etc from a recognized institute.
  • Those who wish to work as a scientist must hold a PhD degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Candidates must have some years of experience in the related field.


After acquiring the relevant degree, the candidate must apply for the job post of Food Safety Officer. Candidates can apply for SCS entrance for the post of Food Safety Officer in a respective state for government job

The selection will be done on the basis of performance in the entrance test and personal interview rounds.

The notification for recruitment is released on the websites newspapers and media for different states. Candidates must regularly check for job posts to apply.
