According to the eligibility criteria for GATE 2022, a candidate who have completed B.Tech or Master's degree in the relevant subject are eligible for the exam. Also, aspirants who are in pre final or final year can also apply for the same. Since, you have completed your Masters, you are eligible for the exam.

B. Tech in food technology is a 4 years graduation course. It includes the study of both food science and food engineering. The study of food technology includes various subjects such as chemical constituents of food, the life of food, preservation, packaging technology, storage conditions, food chemistry, nutritional value, microbial growth, etc. Food technology works in the field of development related to packaging materials, storage containers, preservatives, long term storage food, etc. Students get to learn about laboratory techniques, packaging engineering, quality test technologies, preservation methods, chemical tests to determine the nutritional value of the food and research techniques.
SCOPE- candidates who have pursued a degree in B. Tech in Food Technology can go for either a government-based or a private based industry The various job options for this course includes Food Engineer, Production Manager, Food Processing Engineer, Nutrition Specialist, Food Storage Manager, Food Executive, Analytical Science, etc.
Salary- The starting salary of a candidate for B. Tech in Food Technology ranges in between INR 2 to 6 LPA.
