Am I eligible to do a fellowship in UK or Australia if I have a diploma in orthopaedics from India?

Kritika Gupta 11th Apr, 2019
Hello Ram,
For an orthopaedic fellowship in UK, the post qualification degrees they accept are DNB And MS. Therefore if you have either one of these (issued by the NBE)  then you are eligible for an orthopaedic fellowship in UK.
Check out their official page for further details :
http://posi.in/POSI-UK-Fellowship.html
In Australia, if any international medical graduates have obtained some specialist degrees overseas then they will have to check for the recognition of their qualification through the Australian medical council website  :  https://www.amc.org.au
After this,  international graduates with specialist degrees will have to undergo a vocational assessment at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons  ( RACS).
If you pass these 2 levels of assessment and your degree is recognized by the AMC, you can apply for orthopaedic fellowship in Australia.
You can check their official website for any further details :  https://www.aoa.org.au/orthopaedic-training/international-medical-graduates
Hope this helps  :)

Is clearing PLAB necessary before taking MRCS? If no, then does clearing MRCS help us get regstrd with GMC and allow us to practice in UK?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 3rd Mar, 2019
Dear Dr. PenCaster, PLAB is a License exam and MRCP is a Membership exam. PLAB allows International Meducal Graduates to practise in UK. There are 2 phases in PLAB; PLAB 1 and PLAB 2. Once you clear both the phases, you are eligible for GMC registration. This GMC registration allows you to work in the UK. MRCP is a speciality exam. Once ypu clear MRCP 1, MRCP 2 and PACES, then you are eligible for GMC registration allowing you to work in he UK. If you want to become a Consultant, then you need to undergo Specaility training and for that you need MRCP. So lets say you have cleared PLAB exam, at a later point in time, you still need to appear and clear MRCP exam . But thats not the case with MRCP. If you cleared MRCP exam first , you neednt write PLAB exam. So to answer your question, clearing MRCP and then PACES will allow you to work in the UK.

What are the criterias to study mbbs in London?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 13th Feb, 2019
Dear Sadiya, now to study MBBS abroad, MCI has made it mandatory to appear for NEET. So for starters you need to appear for NEET. Parallelly, you also need to write onr English Proficiency test i.e. IELTS. A minimum score of 7 in IELTS iis mandate for admissions in UK.  Your score plays a major role because the Universities select you based on your score in this test. The better score, better the chances of getting a good University. UCAS website is the official website of the UK government which regulates all application services of all Universities across UK.

Unlike in India, Medical Degree in the UK is classified into 2 phases:

  • Undergraduate Study of 2 years
  • Foundation training which is another 2 years
  • After the completion of 4 years, students can .opt for continue medicine with specialisation.
The basic educational eligibility criteria to study MBBS in UK is 10+2. To add on, a score of 7 in IELTS is mandatory. Now IELTS is nothing but an English Proficiency Test which has 4 sections which are Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. You either can join a Training Institute for IELTS or even prepare by yourself by practising the sample tests available at various sites in the Internet. Now not everyone has English as their Native language and good marks in Science, but want to study MBBS in UK. To facilitate such students, The International Foundation in Medical, Biomedical and Health Sciences at INTO St George’s University of London conducts 1 year training to these students. Those who score more than 75% upon the completion of this course and perform well in the Interview can go ahead and pursue MBBS.

All Indian Students can apply for the medical courses through UCAS website. If you want to study starting from September next year, the deadline is October 31st, this year. Most of the Universities in UK require you to take an admission test. The results of the test are directly sent to the UCAS application. Followed by the test is an Interview done mostly online. The admission tests are UKCAT, BMAT, GAMSAT for admission into many Universities. The top Universities offering MBBS in UK are: University of Cambridge, University of College London, University of Oxford, Queen Mary University of London, University of Aberdeen, University of Glasgow, University of Birmingham, University of Edinburgh, NewCastle University, University of Manchester, Imperial College London, University of St.Andrews, Keele University, Kings College of London and University of Leeds.

The cost of Year wise education varies from 21,000£ to 42,000£. Cost of living is moderate and every year it might cost you between 7,000£ to 15,000£. Students can get financial assistance in the form of Loan for tution fees, Scholarships from Universities, Maintenance loan to support living costs, Private Scholarships, Professional Study Loan, etc.

And talking about how safe is UK, UK is ranked 35th among safe nations in the world. The English are known to be truly helpful, generous and courteous. So go ahead, plan accordingly and Good luck!

I completed my btech in computer science engineering can I apply for MBA in Australia or UK??

Shivani Poojari 6th Feb, 2019

Hi Anudeep

Now-a-days many students are interested to do MBA. To pursue MBA anywhere out of India one must attempt GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) and English language proficiency tests such as TOFEL/IELTS as per the requirements of the universities they want to get into.

In the scenario of UK, MBA is a one year program and it is designed in such a way that people with two to three  years of work experience will reap maximum benefits out of it. Many colleges in UK put minimum 2-3 years of work experience as their eligibility criteria along with any of the english language proficiency tests and first division or higher second division scores in Bachelor's degree. There are also institutions which don't require GMAT score and Work experience. One should always keep in mind that exceptional performance in academic and extra curricular domain would give an applicant more weightage in the selection criteria when compared with other applicants. It is always recommended to go MBA in UK with prior work experience to get the best results.

Some Universities in UK which accept candidates without work experience:

  • West London College
  • London School of Business and Finance
  • University of Derby
  • University of West London
  • Coventry University
  • Anglia Ruskin University
  • University of Berdfordshire
  • Coventry University
  • Cardiff University
  • University of Aberdeen

In the scenario of Australia, almost all the universities consider Bachelor's degree programs with 3 or 4 years, but there are few universities which only look for 4 years of Bachelor's degree. In Australia Universities require a detailed CV of the applicant, work experience certificates (incase of people with work ex), Statement of Purposes (SOP's) for chosing that particular degree to pursue in their Masters, Letter of Recommendation (LOR's), etc are required. IELTS is the only english proficiency exam which is accepted by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship. Higly recommended to get a score of minimum 7 in IELTS to get into the best universities. GMAT is accepted by most of the colleges for their MBA degree course but it is not mandatory for few of them.

Some Universities of Australia are:

  • The University of Melbourne
  • The University of Sydney
  • RMIT University
  • Federation University Australia Brisbane Campus
  • Monash University
  • Central Queensland University
  • The University of Adelaide

I got 69.96 percentile is that good percentile or not

Sai 20th Jan, 2019

Hello Nitin Ancha..

According to careers360 rank formula,

Rank formula= [(100-total score) * (no of students wrote exam)] /100

No of students attended are 874469.

So your expected rank will be nearly around 2,62,690.

As per previous year jee mains, any rank below 2,00,000 will be qualified for jee advanced.

So according to expected rank of yours, you are not eligible for jee advanced. I would suggest you to take exam again.

So don't worry prepare well and write april jee mains well. best of the two exams will be considered.

Hope this helps you. All the best
