The preparation for these exams usually start as early as a year before the admission process as there is a lot involved such as visas, funds planning or loans, acceptance from the college which all takes time, along with that there are several exams that can be given such as GRE, GMAT, etc. MOstly by early Feb of the preceeding year.

You can apply for the private or deemed colleges seats belonging to other state than uk. As in govt colleges 85% seats are reserved for the candidates of the respective state.
