I am doing medical ug in Russia. If i became a medical practitioner in US / Uk/ Canada, can I need to clear fmge?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 20th Jul, 2019
Dear Gokul, FMGE is the entrance exanination for Medical Graduates who have completed their MBBS abroad but want to practise in India. In other words, FMGE is only for India. For countries like USA, UK and Canada, they have their own license examinations. FMGE is irrelevant in those countries.

I am doing medical ug in Russia. If i did pg in USA/ UK / CANADA. Do i need to clear FMGE to practice in India?

Yash Dev Student Expert 20th Jul, 2019
Medical Council of India (MCI) which is also known as Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) is a licensure examination conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE) in India. MCI Examination is compulsory for those Indian students who have pursued MBBS from abroad. The MCI Screening Test was first brought in the year 2002 for the Indian students who have attained a degree of medicine from the country other than India such as Russia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, China, Bangladesh, Barbados, Philippines, Caribbean countries etc. The Medical Schools should have been listed in the WHO International Directory of Medical Schools.

For those students who complete their MBBS from abroad and want to further practice in India, it is compulsory to give MCI Examination for them so that they can start their professional life in India as well. Once you clear this exam, you will be equivalent from those who have done their MBBS from India. Only then you are allowed to choose your career in the field of medicine.
The MCI Screening test is conducted to keep a check on basic concepts, common sense, application of concepts, and ability to check the time management. This exam is not about each and every detail of the study material of MBBS. The test is taken just to check if you are familiar with the core data.
After clearing MCI Screening Test, the students need to carry out 1 year of internship to fulfill the eligibility criteria. If not done, the students will remain to be unemployed in India.
There is no bar on the number of attempts for giving this exam. The minimum eligibility criteria to pass MCI Screening test for a candidate is 50% marks. The aspirants who qualify the MCI Screening Test can apply to Medical Council of India, New Delhi or State Medical Council for his/her permanent or provisional registration.
MCI Screening Test is known to be a very challenging exam as it needs a lot of practice. Only 19% of the candidates are able to clear this test if we see this statistically. If we compare the graphic representation from 2005 to 2015, there had been a huge fall from around 80% of the Indian medical students from International Universities passing the mandatory MCI Screening Test

After completing BDS here can I go to US or UK for masters degree? What do I have to do for that? Please answer as soon as possible.

iamnikhilreddy02 Student Expert 15th Jul, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

I understand your situation and I am here to help you regarding your query.!!

So, generally after successful completion of BDS in India, it's really a very long process to pursue Masters degree in United Kingdom or United States. Firstly, you have to clear the NBDE examination which includes both theoretical and clinical part. If you qualify in this exam, then you should pursue DDS course which is of 2years duration. After all these, you can go for graduate in Masters.

Hope this would help you !!

All the very best wishes for your future endeavours !!

Is a Life at USA is cheaper or UK is cheaper?

vikashkr894_9303636 Student Expert 8th Jul, 2019

USA V UK

You are more likely to die tripping over a gun in the UK than be shot by one. In the USA, you can be shot at any time, by anyone.

Great homes may be bought at very low costs in the USA. Ridiculous pricing in the UK means that fewer people can afford their own home.

Sales tax in GA is 7%, in the UK it is 20%

The USA has no understanding of irony, the UK invented it.

you can fly to the UK for about $400 - about the same it would cost you to fly to LA. Parking is nearly always free in the USA. In the UK, you have to pay for parking nearly everywhere.

Cars must have an MOT certificate in the UK, not so in the USA.

American’s spend millions of dollars and hours of burdensome time calculating and filing their annual taxes. In the UK, no such nonsense exists with PAYE.

In the USA, being a millionaire is not unusual. In the UK, it still is (aside from the value of the family home).

Success in the USA is applauded by others. A slight resentment is apparent in the UK.

US film stars appear in British TV commercials for normal products such as insurance. You do not see British actors appearing in US commercials. The same US actors would never advertise commercial that in America.

The UK has a national flag-carrying airline, the US does not. Airport security in the USA is present. Airport security in the UK is stringent.

you can buy a mansion in Atlanta for the same price as a studio in outer London.

In the UK, you can teach in a private school without a postgraduate university degree. In the USA, not even a British undergraduate degree is accepted.

US drivers are slow, kind and courteous. British drivers are on a suicide mission

Britain’s architecture is unique and varied. In the USA, it is more generic.

You can tell an American in Britain by their base tan. You can tell a Brit in the USA by their lack of one.

A British Asda can be one-tenth the size of an American Super-Walmart.

A pack of 20 cigarettes in Georgia costs $3.80 plus tax. In the UK, the same would be $14.00 including tax.

In the USA, you can buy a whole side of salmon for about 10 pounds. In the UK, you would only get two small filets for that.

Whereas as lamb roast would cost you about 10 pounds in the UK, the same in Georgia would be about $40.00.

The UK has great public transport, the USA has few options.US utility bills are low, the UK is high.

Gas in the USA (Petrol) is $2.35 per gallon. In the UK, it is $7.32 a gallon (when allowing for the UK gallon differential).

Natural gas is 39c per therm in the USA and your bill will be about $70 per month.

TV in the USA is BAD and full of commercials. In the UK, the BBC and Freeview cannot be beaten.

In the UK, healthcare is free. In the USA, you can lose your home if you cannot pay for treatment.

In the UK, you can see international stars in the West End, in great plays.

Community (amateur) theatres in the UK are often superb and as near to professional standards, as you can get. In the USA, community theatre is hit and miss. Americans sue each other, often with frivolity. In the UK, it has to be very serious before a person will litigate.

Is a Doctor in USA is paid higher or a Doctor in UK is paid higher?

muskan.sunitaydv_9765333 Student Expert 8th Jul, 2019

Hello there,

Salaries in most professions are higher in the USA and medicine will be no exception. A doctor in USA is paid higher than a doctor in UK.

In any profession, whether it's medicine, engineering, academia or anything else you would typically expect to earn twice as much in the US than in the UK.

Hope this helps.

In order to migrate in England for study visa what a student should do which Visa de prefer ILETS OR UK VI ?? which one in considered there

mansiprofessional234 Student Expert 8th Jul, 2019

Hey Varun!

You should prefer IELTS  as IELTS is valid in all the organizations and all countries. Also , it is less costlier than UKVI. Although the level of IELTS is harder than UKVI , but still for academics , students should prefer IELTS. However there is not mych difference between UKVI and IELTS , you can go for any of them , but prioritize IELTS.

Hope it helps!
