Want to be an hr manager...is there any course available for masters in HR?

Veeralkumar Thakur 24th Apr, 2019
Hey Sia,

A job of a Human Resource Manager is much more complicated than it is perceived by the Indian society. Other managers have machines, processes and time to manage but an HR manager needs to manage people and their expectations.

To answer your question in Indian context, Yes there courses available for e-learning the basic courses which would give you a chance to learn the fundamentals of Human Resource Management. Like Organizational theory and design, Behavioral science.Legal issues in HR management., Performance management and assessment, Employee training and development, Compensation and benefits and few others.

From Master's Degree point of view, an MBA in HR will give the edge for unlocking the true potential of an HR. As per historic data XLRI is been one of the top tier B-school for Human Resource Management.  Followed by IIM Indore' s new  HR  program launched  PGP-HRM, you can get more details about it in the link below,
https://www.iimidr.ac.in/academic-programmes/post-graduate-programme-in-human-resource-management-pgp-hrm/
The specializations in other top tier B-schools like IIM A B C  are too of great importance. But the industry has a soft spot for HR manager recruitment through the known schools.
These top  B-schools develop the finest HR managers which are wanted by the industry.

All the best!

In Mumbai where i can do MBA degree in Administration

Niharika Moturu 30th Jan, 2019

Hello Nikhil..

Thanks for contacting Careers360..

The two B-schools that deserve to be in contention for being the best MBA college in Mumbai are Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (better known as JBIMS) and S.P.Jain Institute of Management and Research (better known as S.P. Jain). Now let me tell you a few things about these two B-schools and some other options you might want to consider.

JBIMS: It offers the M.M.S. degree and is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. JBIMS is renowned for its Finance curriculum and placements due to their strong alumni network. Currently the admissions are through CAT and CET. The process happens much later as compared to other B-schools and the college does have reservations.

S.P. Jain: It offers the P.G.D.M. diploma and is an autonomous institute. It is better known for the Marketing course but other courses are almost equaly good if not better. It has a rigorous 3 round process and accepts CAT, XAT and GMAT scores. It also has a profile based shortlist.

The other good B-schools in Mumbai in no particular order are NMIMS, Sydenham, Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (IITB), NITIE, Welingkar and SIMSR.

All the best:)

Im working in an IT company as a Team leader (task is general management of team). Can I pursue MBA in Marketing ?

Anonymous 4th Jan, 2019

yes, you can easily pursue MBA in marketing and that can be done through an executive course or a regular one. for the regular one, you need to leave your job and join an institute and for the executive one, it depends on the institute. You need to take CAT/XAT/NMAT/SNAP/MAT/CMAT to get admission in the top b-schools of the country. And choosing a stream in MBA doesn't go sync with the work ex. You can go for MArketing, finance or HR.
