Which one is better for getting good jobs ? Mtech in Biotechnology or Mtech in Genetic engineering ?

Abhishek Roy 4th Feb, 2021

I believe unless your Institute is an IIT or Reputed Institutions like IISc Bangalore, you wont really have good prospects and placements after a M.Tech in either Genetic Engineering or Biotechnology. Of course at IITs, IISc you do have recruiters like Biocon, Bharat Biotech, TCS Innovation, Biogene, Dr Reddys and many others.

Most of the students after M.Tech, hence pursue a Ph.D in Biotechnology and you should plan that, followed by a career in Research or Academia.

which course has more scope whether B.tech biotechnology or genetic engineering

darshita 24th Jan, 2021

Hello,

  • Biotech students have a vast scope as they can work in sectors of pharmaceuticals, agriculture, healthcare, food processing, nutrition, animal science, and environmental conservation. Not in terms of opportunities, even salary packages of biotechnology professionals are lucrative.
  • The scope of Biotechnology is wide and offers opportunities in the field of both research and engineering
  • You will have to put in a lot of hard work which can be frustrating at times.
  • This is not a profession for people who want to make fast buck but for people who are looking for a long and a well charted career.
  • The testing and interviewing processes usually are difficult and one has to be technically expert.

Whereas in genetic engineering:

  • After pursuing courses in genetic engineering, you can work in medical and pharmaceutical industries, research and development departments, agricultural sector, genetic engineering firms, chemical companies, etc.
  • You can pursue the bachelor, master & a doctoral degree in this field. It is important for the study of microbiology, cell biology, Bio-Technology & biochemistry.
  • Genetic engineering involves organisms manipulation of genes using biotechnology.
  • To be a genetic engineer a strong understanding of scientific methods, critical thinking, analytical, mathematical, problem-solving skills and the ability to use graphics, photo imaging, etc. Are required.

In my opinion BTech in Biontech has more scope.

AYUSH coarses or genetic engineering which is best which has better scope

rachanapbennur 30th Oct, 2020

Hello aspirant!

Well, genetic engineering and Ayush courses are entirely different from each other. So comparison between them on the basis of future scope does not really help much. Nevertheless, here is the rough comparison on both:

Ayush courses include BAMS, BHMS, B.U.M.S, BNYS. These are the courses related to medical science and each one of them has a unique and different medicinal practice. Now a days, many people are inclining from conventional allopathic or western medicine to Ayurveda and Homeopathy. So, there is an increase in demand for these courses. There are several opportuities for BAMS and BHMS graduates. They include health consultants in public and private firms, Ayurvedic/Homeopathic pharmacists, Ayurvedic/Homeopathic therapists etc. You can even open your own clinic. However, it cannot be said with certainty that all practioners earn well. The initial salary for a ayurvedic or homeopathic praticioner ranges  25,000 INR to 35,000 INR per month, and they see a hike with experience.

Genetic engineering is one of the emerging field of research and application. It is expected to have much more demand in the coming few years as well. Genetic engineers can find varied number of job profiles such as teaching, in food and agriculture industries, Diagnostic labs, in research centres and instituions and in forensic labs. The salary depends on the job profile and initially can vary from 2.5 LPA to 5 LPA.

So, decide according to your interest. because only if you like your course, you can excel in your career later. Below I have provided a few articles about Ayush colleges and others that you may find useful:

psychology is best or genetic engineering is best in future?

anirudha vats 27th Oct, 2020

Hey,

Both the field are totally different in their course and syllabus and you can't compare them. Firstly it to totally depends on your interest in a specified field. Every field has something to offer for the people who are more dedicated and interested into it. You will excel in the field you are best interested in as you will give your 100% without much effort but choosing a less interested subject won't help you much.

Both the field have their own development and hEnce you should choose the one who have more interest in.

He that helps.

Thank you.

iam completed 12 iam going to take btech genetic engineering so which extra certificate coarse can I study with btech genetic engineering or which extra bachelors degree ( distance education) can I study with btech genetic engineering

mjaisinghani62 14th Oct, 2020

Hello aspirant

It will be better if you focus on one course and do specialization in it. Because even with distance education it will be difficult to manage time.

However if you want to pursue two courses simultaneously then according to me you must go for graduation in Biotechnology  as subjects will be similar and it will be easy to cope up . You can do BSC in genetic biology.

difference between btech genetic engineering and btech bioinformatics

Mohammed Faiz 11th Oct, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

BTech in Genetic Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the study of foreign DNA and developing synthetic genes that can be used to replicate living organisms. Genetic engineering is a new field of study, research and study are a major part of the course as well as employment opportunities. However, the career prospects are bright for individuals who are really interested in this field and are eager to learn.

BTech in Bioinformatics is a four-year undergraduate programme that combines the study of information technology and computer science with the study of biology and medicine to understand the working of the human body. It involves the analysis of multiple factors which affect movement in our biological systems. This course is fit for those students who have a scientific bend of mind. Anyone who seeks research and engineering profile providing a curative solutions to crop production problems are ideal for this course.

Hope this helps
