You need to mention which IIT you are talking about as there are many IITs and each have a different closing rank or cut off score. But if the cut off is 500 and you have scored 515 then you have high chances of getting a call. It

With 593 as gate score there is very less chance to get seat in geo technical and water resources in IIT BOMBAY  as previous year cutoff for geo technical  is 650 and for water resources is 620.

Yes you can teach Civil Engineering after doing your Mtech but the catch is that you can't teach in IIT's or the top NIT's.

For teaching in IIT's one must need a Phd degree that too mostly from abroad.
