Is jossa accept IT subject as a replacement for chemistry as a technical vocational subject for nit admission not for IIT bcoz my grouping is not clear so can I add physics maths English geography and IT marks for 75% criteria

Prachi Kumari 5th Nov, 2024

Hello,

To be eligible for NIT (National Institutes of Technology) admissions through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority), here’s how subject requirements generally work:

  1. Core Subjects for Eligibility : For NIT admissions, the essential subjects typically include Physics , Mathematics , and one other recognized subject. Chemistry is commonly accepted as a technical/vocational subject, but JoSAA has specified that equivalent vocational or technical subjects can sometimes substitute it.

  2. IT as a Vocational Subject : Information Technology (IT) is often accepted as a vocational subject in place of Chemistry for the 75% eligibility criteria in JEE Main for NIT admissions. You can check if IT is explicitly listed as acceptable on the JoSAA or JEE Main guidelines for the year you're applying.

  3. Subjects to Count Toward 75% Criteria : If IT is acceptable, your 75% aggregate could be calculated based on scores in Physics , Mathematics , English , Geography , and IT .

  4. Confirming Eligibility : Refer to the most recent JoSAA guidelines or JEE Main brochure for verification, as subject requirements can occasionally change year to year.

  5. Final Consideration : Always consult your school’s or board’s criteria for technical/vocational subjects to ensure that IT meets all eligibility and board-specific criteria for NIT applications.

Bsc./BA geography courses Government colleges in TamilNadu especially in kanyakumari

Radhika Goyal 13th Oct, 2024

Hy,

In Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, there are a few government colleges offering B.Sc. and BA courses in Geography. Here are some notable options:

  1. Government Arts College, Kanyakumari :

    • Offers a B.A. in Geography.
    • The college has a good reputation and is recognized by the Tamil Nadu government.
  2. Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science :

    • While primarily a private institution, it may be a consideration if you're looking for good programs in the vicinity.
  3. Other Colleges :

    • Government colleges like Government Arts College, Nagercoil , may also offer Geography programs as part of their undergraduate courses, though it is not in Kanyakumari district specifically.

You may want to check the specific admission criteria, course duration, and fees for these programs, as they can vary significantly. It's also a good idea to visit the college's official websites or contact their admissions offices directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

can i add IT subject as technical vocational subject replacing with chemistry to pass the 75% criteria in jee main not for jee advanced, with physics maths IT english and geography

monag2673 4th Oct, 2024

In JEE Main, to meet the 75% eligibility criteria, you typically need to include specific subjects in your Class 12 board exams. The core subjects required for JEE Main Paper 1 (BTech) are **Physics, Mathematics**, and **one additional subject** from a specified list, which often includes subjects like **Chemistry, Biology**, or **Computer Science**.

If you plan to replace **Chemistry** with **Information Technology (IT)** as your additional subject, it's essential to check if IT is recognized under the acceptable subjects for the eligibility criteria. Generally, IT is considered a technical subject, and many boards do recognize it for engineering admissions. However, it is vital to ensure that your school and the board you are affiliated with consider IT as a valid replacement for Chemistry in the context of meeting the 75% criteria.

In summary, you can potentially replace Chemistry with IT, provided that your board allows it and you achieve the required percentage across the subjects, which includes **Physics, Mathematics, IT, English**, and **Geography**. Always confirm with your school’s administration or the official board guidelines for the most accurate information.

hope this helps you!!
