Sub-topics from each section should be selected and then strategy on clearing concepts must be made. Never leave any concepts doubtful or unsolved. Once done with the syllabus and concept clarity, you should move towards solving PGI Previous year's papers. Give PGI mock tests as many as possible. Time management is one more important thing you should look upon. Remember that practise will increase your efficiency.

As you wanted to get seat in the good colleges like rock engineering college for mtech so you should attempt entrance examination like gate and tancet and tancet is conducted by the anna university and gate for mtech so if you have a reservation you have a more chances and it will be benificial to u and but if you don't have reservations also no problem so work for it you should get more than 75percent of marks to the total marks so that you may choose your college of your choice so study well and work hard to get good marks in the good colleges and ALL THE BEST for your future and i think my suggestions and knowledge may be helpful to u.

You have not mentioned the exam regarding which the above question is about.
In general, for exams which have the percentile system for results, Percentile is considered for cutoff. Eg: JEE Main.
Actual score is only the medium to calculate the Percentile and hence, percentile also reflects your actual score indirectly.
Moreover, for some exams/colleges, Rank can be derived from Percentile and that can be used to set the cutoff.
