With your score of 42 marks it is not possible to get into PSUs as the average cutoff of the PSUs is 55 to 60. So PSU option is shot down. If you are very much interested into going into PSU then you will have to answer again next

Sorry to say but with this score only you can get state government universities or private universities. Your chances of getting IIT or nit are very low.You can apply for the following colleges.

Yes, you can definately get into core branches in old IITs. Your rank can be anywhere between 300-500.

Your best bet is Microelectronics  and VLSI in IIT KGP and IIT Roorkee.
