GATE is conducted annually for admissions into M.Tech courses offered by various institutes such as IITs, NITs, GFTIs and other Universities. On the basis of GATE scores, you will also be able to apply for job recruitments in various PSUs. The examination of GATE is conducted in online mode
There is no such criteria to appear in GATE exam but if u apply for PSU'S then minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA is required and if u want to persue for mtech then some colleges have criteria 0f 50% and some college have criteria of 55% to 65% depend on
Actually, the maths questions asked in the gate exam are based on the maths you study in the first year. So, it's good to have those books for revision.

IIT madras conducts this exam after every 6 years, starting from 1985 but there are some fluctuations in this trend in recent years:1991,1997,2003,2011 and now it is suppossed to conduct this exam in 2019 and 2021 but it is not confirmed yet.
