Hello there,

Yes, we can attempt the Gate exam in the 6 semester which falls in third year of engineering.

The gate exam usually takes place in February.

This change is made in this year and effective from this year onwards.

Your chances of getting an M. Tech programme looks kinda improbable. With 30 marks only in GATE examination, there is no scope of getting an M. Tech. May be if you have quota, but still it is going to be extremely difficult.
