It is not compulsory to do GATE after B.Tech ,As your interest ,if you want to do job then you can directly go to the job field if you want to go for higher study's then you should must write the exam GATE after B.Tech.

Hi there hope you are doing well. You should prefer prefer self study method for cracking GATE examination. Focus on branch paper to get colourful marks. As it has more weightage in the the key behind to success in GATE examination is hard work and dedication.

The only eligibility criteria for UPSC is to have attained 21 years age and have passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, even final year students are eligible for this.

Now,coming to your question you can appear for UPSC even in your final year as I said.

If you doesn't use your gate scorecard in 2019 , then you can take fellowship in 2020. As you have qualified gate 2018 with good marks and want a fellowship in 2020, you can easily get it by using your scorecard. Scorecard is valid for once per counselling.

GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a national level examination for M.E./ M.Tech/ Ph.D admissions and PSU Recruitment. GATE exam is mostly conducted in first and Second week of February. It is an online examination conducted once in a year.
