No, this is not true. GATE can be attempted by all the students who are Indian nationals, have either completed their BE/BTech/MSc or be in their final year of relevant degree programs. IITians who have a CGPA above 8 need to just get qualified in GATE, they are directly qualified
With this score in civil branch you can't get IIT but you can get new nits.Your possible colleges are listed below.
