The number of ST and SC candidates scoring more than 60 marks in GATE examination in the mechanical branch varies rapidly every year so, in my opinion you should focus more on giving your best in the GATE examination rather than seeing the number of candidates. If your preparation level is good then you will definitely get a good rank in the GATE examination.
