Sorry to dissapoint you, you have very low chances of getting any NITs for your 408 score in gate. You need at least more than 450 for any NIT. You will also not get any good college. But apply for NITs, if your luck favours you may get.

As you have not mentioned any branches so it will be quite difficult to predict. Considering a ccore branch other than EE as this time EE cutoff was too high so it will be quite difficult to get into any PSU's.

With this GATE score, if you are General category student or OBC's then you can't even get any NIT's. But you can get your State University or you can get the lower grade NIT's like Durgapur, Shibpur, Jamshedpur (Maybe).

With this GATE score you can't get any IIt's or even the NIT's (top ones).

So, the only option left is to apply for the State Universities like JNUTH, Osmania, Anna. You can also try the private Universities if you want like Thapar, PSG, LPU.
