Sir, i am sorry to say but your son can't get any IIt's or Top NIT's. He can get various other NIT's like Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra or the North east NIT's.

Other than NIT's he can try various state Universities like Osmania, JNUTH and even Private Universities.

IF you are General category student or OBc's too then it is next to impossible to get NIT's for Mtech. Last year the closing score was 520 for EEE.

But if want any NIT's then you can try many indisciplinary courses or you can try the state Universities.

see for most of the reputed iits gate score needed for ece frelated subjects are around 700+. but if you opted for Ms you might have good chances. because a few people opted for ms. and requirement of gate score is not very high. you can look for

Your marks and rank are good.As per the previous years cutoffs you have good chance of getting medium ranked IITs such as IIT Patna,IIT Bhubaneshwar,IIT Guwahati,IIT Ropar,etc and you can also apply for higher ranked NITs such as NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkal, NIT Trichy,etc.You can also check for

Your score is good.As per the previous years cutoffs you have little chance of getting Applied Mechanics in old IITS as their cutoffs are high around 750.You can also apply for medium ranked IITs such as IIT Patna, IIT Delhi, IIT Bhubaneshwar,etc.So,be hopefull that you will get it

Some of the old  IITs like IIT Knpur has the cut off score in the range of 700-800.In that case you may find difficulty .
