Hello Aspirant,

Government Engineering College Barton Hill is a great place to study as well as enjoy as it is situated on Barton Hill situated 2 km away from the main city Trivandrum. It was established in 1999 and affiliated to Kerala University and KTU and the best thing about this college instead being situated near sea shores is the Mercedes India ADAM course for those students who are interested in Mechatronics. So you will really enjoy it there a lot.

For a good academic and campus life should I go to TKM Kollam or GEC Barton hill. Tomorrow is my second allotment. Pls help me pls

Ana 28th Jun, 2019

Hello Pepe,

In order to choose from the two colleges you need to compare the facilities provided and choose the college according to your suitability. The facilities are -

A) TKM KOLLAM -

• it is considered one of the most finest of colleges in Kerela. The annual college fee for the merit students who seek admission to college by Kerala entrance is just very little and is about 10,000. The management students may not have the college fee per year but an initial sum of 15,00,000/- makes it expensive.

• the placements provided are good with majority of students getting placements before leaving the college. The college has a functioning career and guidance cell which also provides training to the students in terms of placements. All departments get the opportunity to sit in an interview with the core companies instead of only the IT sector companies.

• the faculty is good and well informed in their areas of education and teaching. Most of them have doctorate degrees and excell in their academic fields. They are helpful and provide aid to students in their problems and issues that come up in regular academics or projects.

• The college is couple friendly and is always maintains it's the vibe. The gender ratio is about 3boys to every 2 girls. Well furnished labs, separate courts for all sports including squash and tennis is also available. Competitions range from technical to the cultural level.

• Certain scholarships are given to students who are in need and pass the eligibility criteria for the same.

B) GEC BARTON -

• Due to it being a government college it is quite cheaper than the other colleges. There are extra fees for entrance and other things but comparing to the fee structure of other private colleges the fee structure of this college is quite less.

• the college has a placement cell for placements of the students studying in the college. It provides the students with details and other information regarding the placements and job opportunities. The college also holds a collaboration called ADAMS which allows students to attain placements in huge companies.

• Most of the faculties in this college are Ph.D. holders. A handsome number of faculties are from top-ranked institutes in Kerala like IITs. The college produces many high merited students and emerge as rank holders.

• the campus life is good. Many events and fests are organised by the college. Each year the festivals are also celebrated.

I hope this helped.

All the best!!
