I am OBC-NSL and I have got 72.76 % in 12th from gujarat board. I eligible for jee advance 2020 ? yes or no ?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 17th May, 2020
Hi

To be eligible for JEE Advance you need a minimum of 75% marks in class 12 if you belong to general or obc ncl category
Or
you must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination.

Now ,in 2018 , top 20 percentile for OBC category for Gujarat board was 321 marks i.e 64.2 % . This year's top 20 percentile data for state board has not been released yet, it will be released after JEE mains by jossa
So, based on previous year trends, with 72 .76 %  in your 12th, high chances are that you will be in top 20 percentile and thus you will be eligible for JEE advanced 2020

Thankyou

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 17th May, 2020
Hi

You can appear in 2020 examination as no one is going to check your results on the day of examination, your results are verified during counselling.

But yes, to be eligible  for taking admission after qualifying neet  you must pass your supplementary examination and get a minimum of 50% marks taken together in PCB in your class 12th board examination if you belong to general category ; while it's only 40% aggregate in pcb for obc, sc and st categories, also must pass English before the 1st round of NEET 2020 counselling.

Thankyou

Sharon Rose Student Expert 17th May, 2020

Hello,

No, to be eligible for JEE Advanced you must have qualified in JEE Main. You cannot appear in JEE Advanced on basis of merit in class 12.To qualify in JEE Main you must score the minimum percentile.A percentile 85 or above is considered to be an ideal percentile to have decent chances of qualifying.

Sohamsengupta8 12th Jun, 2020

Hello student,

Actually this is completely depend upon your own interesting part. If you have interest in in engineering line then you should go for it. As this marks haven't exceed the cutoff eligibility marks of medical, you may not go into the medical line. But you should look for pharmacy. Otherwise if you want to do polytechnic or ITI course go for it.

Hope this will help you

hello sir , I am from gujarat board i get less than 75 percentage but I get 84 percentile can I eligible for NIT or IIT ?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 17th May, 2020

Hi

You didn't mention the category you belong to dear , to be eligible for admission in NITs, IITs  etc you need a minimum of 75% marks in class 12 or equivalent exam if you belong to general category . For those who are from SC/ ST category, they need a minimum of 65% marks in class 12 or equivalent.

Or

To be eligible you must be in the top 20 percentile in  class 12 examination

So check your eligibility as per your category, but if you don't fulfil the criteria, then you are not eligible for admission in NIT or IIT irrespective of how high  percentile you have got in JEE  examination

Thankyou
