A Candidate for admission to the four-year degree course in Engineering must have passed the Intermediate examination (10+2) of the Board of Intermediate Education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as subjects or any other examination.

The fee for Computer Science and Engineering here is around Rs.70,000 per academic year.

To get admission in Harcourt Butler Technological Institute, Kanpur you can write any one of the following exams:

• JEE Mains ( paper-1)
• UPSEE B-Tech

In the case of JEE Mains, in 2018, the opening and closing ranks for CSE are:

• 5968 and 13042 resp. in the first round

Dear Jatin, According to 2017 rank list for CSE  open at 5328 and close at 21422.

From these statistics, we can say you should get rank under 20k for CSE.

You know the competition is increased year by year so try to secure a good because rank list slightly varies due to heavy competition, prepare hard and make the best shot.

The exact prediction would be tough for the admission as JEE Main is being conducted twice by NTA for the first time. With this score the chances seems less to get a seat in HBTU or Jamia Millia Islamia University. I would suggest you to appear for JEE Main April session again to score well.

HBTI is now not under UPSEE now it has now been converted into HBTU an independent, centrally-funded and autonomous university. HBTI was affiliated to UPTU till august 2016. From September 1,2016 HBTI is upgraded to status of government.

It depends on what branch you want to get admission in.

• For CS/MECH the cut off this year was 160+.
• For Electronics the cut off was around 150+.
• For Chemical engineering/civil engineering 140 was sufficient.
• And for rest of Chemical Technology branches, even a score of 120 was sufficient until 4th round. paint being the most preferred branch.
