Himachal Pradesh University offers admission to B.Tech program in Regular and Lateral Entry modes. The minimum educational qualification for admission should be 10+2 with 50% marks for B.Tech and Diploma or B.Sc with 60% marks is required for B.Tech (Lateral Entry). Admission is based on the entrance conducted by HP University. According to the sources of the university, the candidates who are seeking admission under Sponsored category under Lateral Entry mode, must have at least five years of work experience in Government Organization or PSUs in the relevant field. The Entrance exam is conducted by the university itself which consists of two papers- Paper I and Paper II with 100 MCQs each. The test centeres are at Chandigarh, Shimla, Delhi and Dharamshala only. Paper I consists of Physics and Math which have 50 questions each and Paper II consists of Aptitude Test with Logical Reasoning,IT with GK and English language. The Himachal Pradesh university has different criteria for its different courses like if the candidate wants to go for MBBS / NDS then he / she must have appeared for NEET  whereas admission to B.Tech is given on the basis of marks obtained in Entrance test conducted by HPU and also merit basis for BBA, BCA, BHM courses the admission is granted on the merit basis for LLB based on the entrance exam conducted by the university

Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla takes admissions to M.Sc courses at the postgraduate level through performance in the entrance test conducted by HPU. Candidates holding a bachelors degree from a recognized university are eligible to apply for the courses. The exam is likely to be conducted on May 21 or May 22, 2019.
