I have PCM in class12 and I get 95% and I want admission in du for ba programme with political science and history. So, Will i face disadvantage of 2.5% ?

Amisha Sah 15th Jul, 2020

dear aspirant,

First of all i would like to congratulate you and yes, if you choose for arts or any other medium(science/ commerce) other than what you had in 12th then 2.5 per cent will be deducted from the total total percentage (in making the total percentage of just the best of 4 subjects will be counted) the deduction that vary from college to college wherever its 3 per cent, 3.5 per cent as well.

all the best!!

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 5th Jun, 2020
Hi

IAS or UPSC examination is one of the most toughest entrance examination that we have in our country, one has has to clear 3 stages of UPSC which are :-

  • The first stage of the exam is Preliminary examination (objective )

  • The second stage, Mains (written).

  • If you manage to clear both prelims and mains then you are to go through third stage i.e interview/personality test .

Also , one has to cover a wide syllabus of UPSC which includes subects like :-
  • Indian Polity,
  • History,
  • Indian Economy,
  • Science and Technology,
  • Environment and Ecology,
  • International Relations and associated current affairs etc. For complete syllabus go through
https://competition.careers360.com/articles/upsc-ias-syllabus

So , Upsc examination is quite tough

but it doesn't mean that it is made for only brilliant candidates, every year a number of average students work hard and prepare well with dedication and appear for UPSC examination and not only appear but also clear it and become an IAS officer as well .

So , you can also definitely clear UPSC examination and can be an IAS officer provided you are ready to work hard and remain dedicated and focus towards your studies and preparation for UPSC examination.

Thank you

Currently, I am studying 12th Maths-Bio.I like to become an IAS.I have a problem in selecting the course that i do in college.I like politics and history.I would like to know a course that will be useful for writing the IAS examination and my internet. Can you recommend me some course?

Pankhuri Kumari 5th Jun, 2020
Hii!
See, the eligibility criteria for applying for UPSC exam, your path to become an IAS, is that the candidate must have completed graduation with minimum 50% marks in any Subject stream from a recognised university. So, you can choose to go for any College of your choice and do any course of your choice. Upsc covers all the Subjects such as Gk, current affairs, geography, history, science, etc.,
So, the Subject choice for graduation is yours.
You can also take up coaching besides graduation for preparing for the exam.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!
