Actually it is completely depend upon your capability. If you think that you can do alone then it's ok. Otherwise you can take examinations. National testing agency conducts this examination. The examination level for PG admission is moderate. Means it is not so tough and not so easy.

No, it is no compulsory to have a BA degree to pursue a masters . In most of the institutes the eligibility criteria for a masters in  is around 45-50% marks in your undergraduate degree in any field. But in a few reputed institutes UG is compulsory.
