Hello aspirant
Yes, for ICAR Examination, ncert books are best. You can prepare well as it covers the entire portion of Physics Chemistry and biology for class xi and xii. You should solve model test papers also apart from this. But I think it will not be sufficient like for Biology , you should know examples in each and every subtopic in plant and animal physiology . For physics ncert will be sufficient.
ICAR doesn't actually display the marks of students and it provides no analysis of the marks vs rank comparison. So it's a little difficult to say. But yes a rank under 2000 can surely give you a government college. I'll enlist down the cutoffs of some of the top colleges through ICAR with their cutoff rank -
Best wishes. Thank you.

Good Luck!!
Basically ICAR have never published previous years question officially. There are some websites which claims these things but it always turns out to be fake or something else. This is the reason why our website has never claimed such things ever.
I would only suggest you to follow the syllabus and work on your basics as questions asked in the entrance are pretty direct. Try to get 400+ to get good college.
All the best!!
If you want to take admission in top colleges like BHU, Hisar or GB Pantnagar then you need to get 475+ considering previous year cutoffs.
Last year the cutoff for BHU was around 510 and for Pantnagar it was around 480+.
If you want any good government college then you can easily get with 390+ marks, again considering previous year cutoffs.
