I have took a gap year for jee after 12 th how will it affect my iim calls after cat, in iim interviews?

Kajal Gautam 2nd Jan, 2022

Dear Reader,

Hope you are doing well..

This is common and a majority of students take a year gap for jee mains so don't worry that it will affect your IIMs interview. It is normal about that so if you are being asked this question in IIMs interviews, there could be two possible scenarios :

  1. Interviewer is going to test your stress level in the interview.
  2. Interviewer want to know about what you learn in that gap year.Don’t get afraid about that,be stable with your mind and explain to him about the present system of examination and your achievements what you achieve in past.

Hope this information helps to clear all your diubts regarding this.

Have a good day and great future ahead..

cat:V38,LR13,Q33;IIM cal chances?

piyush singh 31st Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant ,

With total 84 marks in CAT examination your total percentile will be around 90-95 according to past years rankings. Getting a call from IIM depends on many other factors like past academic records, work experience etc , still you can expect calls from some good IIMs but chances of  getting  calls from Top IIMs is very low .

Some IIMs you can expects calls from are :

  • IIM Nagpur
  • IIM Jammu
  • IIM Amritsar
  • IIM Vishakhapatnam
  • IIM Simaur

You can also expect calls from some IITs except the top one , BIMTECH, GIMS GOA etc .

Hope this helps.

Anurag Khanna 19th Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Unfortunately you are not eligible for admission to any of the baby IIMs. The reason being is that you have not even qualified their qualifying cut-offs for CAT which is normally in range of 27-36 for ST category in each of the three sections. And to get a call from IIMs, the candidate should have good academic record as well as good CAT score according to his/her category. But in your case you have decent academic record but you are not qualified for admission to any of the baby IIMs.

You can check out the admission criteria of all baby IIMs from the link given below :-
