EWS female pursuing bcom got 70% in 12 and 80% in 10th how much should i target in CAT to get into iim banglore and other iims with zero wrk experience

Yash 1st Nov, 2024

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the most important components to get admission in IIM Bangalore or any other IIMs. In order to get admission in IIMs, you must obtain a good percentile in the CAT. There is no specific percentile stated by the IIMs which will give you a 100% WATPI shortlist. Even scoring a high percentile in the CAT will not give you a guarantee to get an interview call as it depends upon various factors.

IIM Bangalore or any other IIM give consideration to a number of factors while giving a WATPI call. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity, etc. Your first priority should be to clear both the overall percentile of 75 and sectional percentile of 70 in all three sections in case of IIM Bangalore and the overall and sectional percentile as stated by the different IIMs for EWS category candidates. If you have no work experience, it will not be a disadvantage as a number of candidates who get admission in the IIMs are freshers with no work experience. You will not get the marks allotted for work experience.

However, even if you score 95 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm WATPI call. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the major criteria for admission.

The marks obtained by you in Class 10, Class 12, Graduation, academic, and gender diversity will play a major role to get a shortlist for the WATPI process along with the CAT score and your performance in the WATPI round will play a major role during your final selection.

what is a cut off of MBA in IIM Ahmedabad

Yash 23rd Oct, 2024

Hi!

Scoring a mere percentile in the CAT does not give you a guarantee to get an interview call from IIM Ahmedabad as the institute has a very complex admission process. IIM Ahmedabad gives consideration to a lot of factors while giving an interview call to candidates. These factors include CAT score, Class 10, Class 12, and Bachelor's degree marks, work experience, academic, and gender diversity. If you even score somewhere around 99 percentile in the CAT , this will not mean that you will get a confirm call from IIM Ahmedabad. However, if you belong to the reserved category, then there are good chances of receiving an interview call at less percentile. Therefore, the CAT score is not the only criteria but is one of the criteria for admission to the IIM Ahmedabad . The cutoff will depend upon various factors which will change every year. However, candidates must meet the minimum overall percentile of 80 and sectional percentile of 70 in all three sections (less percentile for reserved category candidates) to become eligible to receive the WATPI shortlist.

You can predict your CAT percentile by using the CAT Percentile Predictor 2024 .

I want to pursue MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. I completed my graduation in computer science engineering and my graduation percentage is 75. My 10th percentage is 94.40 and my 12th percentage is 79.85. Is my academics are good enough to get me admission in some of the management course of IIM AHMEDABAD?

Yash 6th Oct, 2024

The academic scores that you have obtained in your Class 10, Class 12, and Graduation are good enough to help you during the selection process of IIM Ahmedabad. The minimum eligibility criteria to appear for the CAT is a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% marks for SC/ ST/ PwD category candidates). Your academic score will help you getting an Interview shortlist. But first, you need to obtain good percentile in the CAT . The percentile obtained by you in the CAT matters a lot along with other components such as Class 10, Class 12, Graduation marks, work experience, and academic diversity. If you will not be able to clear the minimum required overall and sectional percentile, then you will not be able to get WATPI shortlist from the IIM Ahmedabad . Therefore, now your first priority should be to score good percentile in the CAT.
