Hello Aspirant,
Consideration wise any work experience is acceptable as long as its full time salaried.
However, if your hidden aspect of the question is that which are preferred work.
Previous ex. from core industries and banking are given high priority. In banking too, back-office ex. is not preferred that much. However, such as that of Analyst, IB, Corporate Banking are desired.
Similarly, Consulting ex. is also preferred. Consulting esp. at Strategic level is given priority over functional consulting (Operation Consulting, HR Consulting, etc.). Start-up ex. is also good.
Typical IT ex., banking such as that IBPS PO, market research, teaching types of ex., etc. are not desired ones.
In nutshell, impactful ex. is preferred.
These are just some of the pattern observed so far. However, there is no any such hard and fast rule as a lot depends upon batch composition in mind, and available pool of resources.
Hello there
The simple answer of this question from my side would be a big NO .
Yes there might happen that the placements committee would be knowing before the process that which company would be coming out and what they want but that doesn't matter very much on the placement factor as it's totally depend upon the student abilities and their potential.
Yes this I can also say that being a member of the placement committee would be giving you a little amount of advantage.
I hope this helps you!
Thank you!
To get shortlisted means you are getting selection in internships.
So to get an internship the three major factors which plays a very vital role in your selection process is your CV which is always the first step, thereafter getting through GD and then cracking the interview .
Also all the companies have different different criterias to recruit the students and to shortlist them so it might also include some activities like written assessment, group discussions, leadership, oratorical skills and much more.
I hope it helps you!
Yes work experience does matter in IIMs
Candidates having more work experience definitely get advantage over other candidates.
The rating score alloted to candidate with work experience more than 36 month is 5.
This is not the criteria but it gives weightage.
Hi,
IIMs are the most prestigious B-Schools of India and their low acceptance rates prove that IIMs are the houses of the sharpest minds of the country.
As of 2020, there are 20 IIMs in India. The total seat count is approximately 5000 overall. And the number of test takers of CAT Exam in 2020 was approximately 2.3 Lakhs. Hence the seat acceptance rate is as low as 2.17%
But that should not demotivate anyone to stop working hard towards their goals. If anyone is willing to push themselves harder, no one can stop them from getting a seat in this prestigious institutes.
Hope it helps.
Hello,
That entirely depends you're in which stage of your career, for example if you're a fresher, and wish to add these short term certifications pertaining to your domain then you can go ahead with these, this will add much weightage to your CV along with enhancing your knowledge base and thereby improving your skill sets, however if you're already a working professional with relative years of experiences, it's best that you can choose to go ahead with the executive courses as this will further help in your career advancements, and also in terms of better pay prospects.
ISB's PGP and IIMA's PGP are very well known business programs. I can safely say that it makes no difference really that ISB or IIM offers a certificate instead of a diploma or degree. Simply graduating from ISB or IIM opens up a lot of doors in the Indian job market. Compared to ISB and IIM, Rotman does not have the same level of Brand recall in India. So, if you plan to come back at least immediate (1-2 years) after completing your MBA at Rotman, I wouldn't recommend it. If you plan to settle in Canada, Rotman does stand as one of the best in Canada and is a clear winner. Going from Canada to US will be an uphill battle and will not be easy like bb said. Both colleges feed almost 25 to 30% of their class into consulting. Personally don't think either college is at a stage where they are recognized well in the US market... Too many of the best MBA programs in the world are in the US. Ultimately, it comes down India vs Canada and where you want to spend your life after the program because both programs are among the best in their respective demographs.
Becoming a part of top IIM's will surely provide the needed exposure, learning, and most evidently quality education which will help you in getting into top companies which will give you great salary along with a great future.
hey there,
IIMS have been constantly ranked as a premier management schools in India. The colleges have been seen as INDIA'S IYVY LEAGUE .The programs have been painted in a way that students have crystal clear understanding of the concepts rather than book learning.
Investment banking IS definitely one of the most demanding career path which is highly pursued for great return in life.
other than this consulting and marketing are something which is in great catch.
but your life decision should be made according to your strengths not according to the placement, salary or college. try to match your interests with a course and go peruse it .
THANK YOU
