i have 10 cgp in 10th, 97%in 12th and 78% in graduation. 2years work experience, appearing in CAT 2020 as PWD category non engineering female candidate. How much percentile is required to get a call from IIM AHMEDABAD, BANGLURU and Kolkata.

Prashant Kumar Pandey 24th Nov, 2020

hello aspirant ...

The overall lowest cut-off for top IIMs:

You will get a call from IIM if you touch 90 percentile or above (except for IIM A which has a lower cut-off) The overall cutoffs are as follows:

Sr. No. IIMs Minimum overall cut-off
1 IIM Ahmedabad 80 percentile
2 IIM Bangalore 90.6 percentile
3 IIM Calcutta 90 percentile
4 IIM Lucknow 90 percentile
5 IIM Indore 90.5 percentile
6 IIM Kozhikode 90 percentile

Most of the new IIMs have their cut-off requirement set at 85 with IIM Shillong having cut-off set at 70 in CAT.

What really matters is the sectional cut-offs for all three sections. You need to have the minimum cut-off requirement for each section, which differs from IIM to IIM. If you get less than that for anyone of the sections, you will lose that call. For IIM A, this sectional cut-off is the lowest,  you need a sectional cut-off of just 70 percentile or above to get a call from them.

If you have a good profile, you have a higher chance of getting a call at a lower percentile, too. Profile in this sense would mean a high percentage / CGPA in your Graduation 10th, 12th and Under. Usually those who have 90 percent and above for all three will be considered for IIM ‘s call (IIM A for sure!) Apart from that if you are an exceptional performer in any extra-curricular activity with awards and recognition, you have a chance of getting a call from IIM.

One surprising fact is the actual cut-off date of IIMs goes on to show that for many IIMs, the actual CAT cut-off is much higher than what institutes announce prior to shortlisting for the further process of the institutes. Except a few of them, the actual interview cut-off of the majority of IIMs falls in the range of 96 to 100 percentile in CAT while the announced cut-off being in the range of 80 to 90 percentile.

hope it helps !

Mrinalini Sarkar 19th Nov, 2020

Hello,

As you have mentioned that you belong to OBC category so for getting admission in IIM Calcutta you need to be an excellent student. Your 10th and 12th scores are not that good but since you improved such tremendously I think that the older scores would not affect you so much but you need to score more than 85% overall to get admission.

Hope it helps.

Good luck.

i have got 9.2 cgpa in 10th , 89 percent in 12th and 63 percent in graduation ( bachelor of dental surgery) do i have chance of getting a call from older iim s.

Tunir Sikdar 9th Oct, 2020

Hi,

Firstly, let me be clear, what you have in control is your work experience and CAT percentile. You cannot change your graduation or school academic results.

Also admission in IIMs change very frequently.

Now coming to your query, you have got decent scores in your acads (school). The only drawback is your graduation results and they, unfortunateky, have more weightage.

Remember chances of admission is also based on your CAT score and WAT-PI rounds.

So start prepearing and I wish you all the best!

I got 49.88%in class 10 and 62% in class 12 and 4.90 CGPA out of 7 scale in graduation can i get admission in FMS

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 15th Nov, 2020

FMS Delhi usually has the highest cut offs for its 200 seat intake. The selection process includes 3 stage method. They are:

Eligibility Criteria
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Final Selection

The basic eligibility criteria remains 50% aggregate for General Category in Graduation and 45% for Reserved Categories or equivalent CGPA from any recognised University. The percentiles in CAT are considered for the further rounds. In 2018, the weightage given for various sections of CAT have been as follows:

QA: 30%

DILR: 30%

VARC: 40%

An additional 3 marks are added to the Composite score in case of women for shortlisting. This score is used only for shortlisting Candidates for Personal Interview. The weightage for Final selection is as follows:

Personal Interview: 15%

CAT score: 60%

Group Discussion: 10%

Extempore: 5%

10th marks: 5%

12th marks: 5%

An additional 3 marks of the maximum aggregate will be added to the women candidates who have attended the Interview. So with the scores that you have mentioned, you need more than 98% in CAT to be shortlisted in FMS.

Abir Gayen 12th Nov, 2020

Hi Aspirant,

According to the criteria of eligibility, you need to be a graduate or you should have passed a bachelor's degree for three to four years in order to get into LLB course. However some colleges mentions the percentage marks required in order to get admissions. For general category minimum marks required should be 45% to 55% and from Sc/St category students it ranges from 35-45%.Accordingly if you are from general you might face problems during admission in some college and your graduation percentage is bit low.If you are from reservation category,You might get some relaxations.

Hope it helps!!
