Hello Aspirant,
Before I even start I need you to know that IIIT Sricity is at it's developing stage however every facility available is world-class and at par with IIIT-Kancheepuram.As per stats of 2019 IIIT Kancheepuram had their average placement of 10 LPA with highest package of 55 LPA,companies like Amazon, flipkart, etc. but about IIIT Sricity they did not release much about their placement but they have an average of about 9 LPA and 53 LPA as their highest package.

The placements at IIIT kancheepuram is average. Cse and electrical branches are somewhat better in placements. The average salary package was 17LPA. here the placements are improving yearly and the infrastructure is also good.according to IIIT kancheepuram placements 2019,total 37 companies are visited the campus. Nearly 135 students were placed and highest package was 20 LPA. I hope this information helps you.
Hello Aspiarant
First of all let me advice you that before choosing a branch figure out your interest first,if you like mechanical go for it.Okay, now coming to the question you asked IIIT Kancheepuram mechanical is good but don't expect really good placement at IIIT Kancheepuram placement for ME is bleak and only few core companies like Saint Gobain and Triad visit. The average placement is around 3.5-4 LPA but as teaching standard is good so, if you want to go for higher studies then this is a good choice.
Now coming to Metallurgy if you are getting Metallurgy in top tier NITs then go for it NIT Trichy is really good considering teaching quality and even placement is decent companies like JSW,Tata Steel,Schlumberger are major recruiters, at a delicious average of around 6 LPA.But if you are going to lower NITs you might find it a bit difficult.
I would strongly recommend to try our College comparison algorithm,it will help you get detailed information
Hope this will help you
I will advice you to go for IIITDM Kancheepuram Mechanical Engineering, unless you are getting Metallurgical or Chemical in one of the best 10-12 NITs namely NIT T, W, K, C, RKL, MNNIT, MNIT, MANIT, VNIT, NIT JSR, SVNIT Surat or perhaps NIT Raipur. However let me tell you Metallurgical and Chemical Engineering both are the most student friendly branches and have a structred curriculum as well as excellent Placements in both Core and Non Core sectors in the above NITs.
Otherwise, IIITDM Kancheepuram Dual Degree Mechanical Course is too a good choice, with excellent infrastructure, faculty and core placements. Located nearby Institutes like IIT Madras and NIT Trichy as well as Industrial hubs at Chennai and Madurai further provided impetus to training, projects, research and placements. In core sectors Ashok Leyland, TVS, Wabco, Tractor India Limited, GE , Saint Gobain, L&T, TCS have been some of the major recruiters. Many students of IIITDM after pursuing the dual degree progran move to universities abroad or higher technical institutes like IITs and IISc for pursuing Doctoral degree.

Greetings, Jagan.
IIITDM Kancheepuram is definitely a good college (many rating websites have rated it generously). The college has a 52 acre campus appreciated by all the current students which is always a plus in my books!
Now, regarding your query - from the data and reviews I could find and read online (I did a lot of searching and reading), it appears that internship and placement opportunities for Mechanical Branch at IIITDMK are average as in the avg. package offered in 2019 (to Mech graduates) was around 4-8 Lacs per annum and the placement rate for the Mech branch also seems to be on the lower side (with around 32 Mech students placed in 2019)
so the pros include - great campus, good faculty, good hostel
and the cons include - average placements and internships, distance from city (about 50Kms)
If you are aiming for further studies after Engineering then I'd personally advice to go for it but if your circumstances demand you to be placed right after college into a good job then I don't think it is worth the risk (assuming the placement rates remain same 4 years from now)
If you have other alternatives then do compare them in terms of placements but if you are sure that you can somehow find better opportunities on your own (out of campus placements, finding good internships on your own, etc.) then you may very well survive with a good job at the end.
It is up to you so take your time but don't miss the deadlines! best of luck for your Engineering experiences ahead.
