Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Kancheepuram (IIITDM Kancheepuram) is an Institute which was established  by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to pursue design and manufacturing oriented engineering education, research and to promote the competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets.

The Electronics and Communication Engineering with specialization in Design and Manufacturing curriculum is designed to provide advanced theoretical and practical training of all aspects relevant to the design, development and production of modern electronic systems and subsystems.  The B.Tech Electronic and Communication Engineering program supplements the existing ECE curricula with design aspects from Electrical, Electronics, Control and Instrumentation Engineering.

Including the above information , this also contains various laboratories which boosts the learning process. State of the art laboratories train students both in software and hardware in the areas of Analog and Digital Circuits, Control Systems, Instrumentation Systems, Industrial Drives, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Processing Systems and Multilayer PCB Design.

Coming to the placement process of this university, it is very flexible and student friendly. This university not only trains the students through various activities along the curriculum but it also makes students capable of getting placed in the top companies .

The number of companies visit this university in a year on an average is 54.And the highest package for student till date includes 55lakh/annum.

The placement procedure include :

• Placement Cell (nodal point for placements at IIITDM Kancheepuram), assisted by student representatives, sends invitation to companies along with relevant information and documents - Placement Brochure (http://iiitdm.ac.in/placement/resources/Brochure.pdf) , Employer Registration Form (ERF), etc.
• A company can also show interest in recruiting IIITDM Kancheepuram students by contacting Placement Cell, IIITDM Kancheepuram by writing to placement@iiitdm.ac.in, stating intent to visit IIITDM Kancheepuram campus for recruitment. ERF can also be downloaded from our Training & Placement website.
• After receiving filled in ERF and relevant information from a company T&P Cell will reply within 2-3 working days through email. The dates for campus interviews are allotted on the basis of information provided in ERF. It is expected that correct and complete information is provided by companies in ERF.
• Suitable date for the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) is decided by the discussions between the companies and the T&P Cell. After confirmation from the companies, students are notified of the PPT date. However, PPT and recruitment process can also go together.
• Interested students will register for a particular company online through an internal website or by hard copies. After the dead line, the information will be forwarded to companies.
• Companies are required to send the list of short listed students by email to the T&P Cell prior to the campus visit for final interviews.
• The companies visit the campus for placements on the allotted dates and conduct Group Discussions/Aptitude test/Technical test/Personal Interviews etc., as part of their preferred selection procedure.
• The companies are expected to furnish the final list of selected students on the same day after the selection procedure is completed. This will enable the Institute by not allowing the selected students to the companies visiting at later dates.
• The ERF provides the primary basis of communicating the details of the positions offered by the company to the candidates. It is therefore, highly desirable that the form is completed in all respects.
• The decision regarding the dates is on the discretion of the T&P cell. Companies are expected to strictly adhere to the time and dates slots allowed to them. Any change must be notified in advance.
• Please note that the facility of video conferencing is available at the campus and can be availed for the purpose of interviewing candidates in case the company is unable to visit the campus.

IIIT Kancheepuram has good placements with companies Amazon, Apollo Tyres, Ashok Leyland, Daimler, Flextronics, Forbes Marshall, HCL, IBM and Larsen and Toubro visiting the campus. The placement records show that the institute is growing every year. In the year 2019, the 37 companies visited the campus which recruited 137 students. The highest salary was recorded to be 20 LPA and the average salary was 17.54 LPA.

VNIT Nagpur :

B.Tech in metallurgy and materials engineering is a four year full time undergraduate level degree programme offered by VNIT, Nagpur.

The fees for this programme is 5.4 Lakhs INR.

About the placements, around 80% students got placed last year with highest package of 18 Lakhs per annum and lowest 3.5 lakhs per annum. Companies like jindal steel, tata steel visit the campus for recruitment.

The infrastructure and college life are very good here. They have well equipped labs, a library, hostels are also equipped with LAN. So, the infrastructure is quite good. According to the student reviews, the campus is really soothing and green, and they have sone events that go on for students.

IIIT, Kancheepuram:

The placements are prettu decent here, around 70 percent students got placed last year in companies like cognizant, samsung, etc. The campus life is also good. There are some events organized by the college as well as, the infrastructure, it is one of the most excellent institutions when it comes to infrastructure. So, if you can't get an NIT, IIITDM, Kancheepuram is one of the best options.

The reason being is that IIITDM Jabalpur has better infrastructure, better placement  assistance training programs therefore it's placement is also sounds good then IIITDM Kancheepuram.  All the benefits you will be getting in IIITDM Kancheepuram will be offered to you in IIITDM Jabalpur except fee because fee of IIITDM Jabalpur is also little high as compare to that of IIITDM Kancheepuram. Moreover IIITDM Jabalpur has NIRF ranking of 82 whereas IIITDM Kancheepuram is on 182nd position, which shows that IIITDM Jabalpur is better than IIITDM Kancheepuram.

As per the latest fee structure released by IIITDM Kancheepuram :-

There are three types of fee to be deposited in college, first one is Onetime fees which includes certificate fee, student welfare fee, infrastructure development fee and likewise and it costs total of INR 5,000/-. Now second type of fee is semester fee which includes Tuition fee, examination fee, registration fee and likewise which costs total of INR 64,800/-(per semester) this should be given in both the semesters means total fee for both the semesters will be INR 1,29,600/- and now as you belongs to ST category so you will be exempted from tuition fee which is INR 60,000/- per semester means for an year it will be INR 1,20,000/-. So for semester fee you have to pay only INR 9,600/-. Now the last on is medical insurance fee that is INR 450/-

So in total you have to pay INR 15,050/- for FIRST year and from afterwards you have to pay INR 10,050/- only for a year.

Above fee structure is for day scholars and if you live in hostel then you have to give INR 29,200/- per year for it.

So for Hostellers total fee will be (10,050+29,200) INR 39,250/- for ST category.

Let me begin the comparison from IIIT Jabalpur,faculties are really good and friendly,most of them are Ph.D holders and quality of education is really good.Now coming to placements companies like TCS,Wipro,Bosch etc. with an average CTC of 6 LPA.

Coming to IIITDM Kancheepuram qualitty of education is at par with IIITDM Kancheepuram.Companies like L&T,Delloid,,TCS,Wipro recruit students with an average of 6-7 LPA.

Coming to NIT Manipur and NIT Arunachal Pradesh,the above two are better than these two. Average package of around 5LPA and 6 LPA.Placement percentage around 68.NIT Arunachal Pradesh doesn't have a proper infrastructure because they are using temporary campus.Faculties are good.

According your question, both of the colleges are good but we may best figure out any colleges by comparing their placement packages and study facility . So. As per this parameters :-

1) NIT uttarakhand :-

They have well qualified professors who will guide you properly and have good infrastructure as well as per reviews. They have an average placement packages of 6.5LPA and highest placement packages of 10.5 LPA. Companies like HCL, Accenture, samsung etc came here for recruitment.

2) IIITDM Kancheepuram:-

They also have well qualified professors who will guide you properly and have good infrastructure as well as per reviews. They have an average placement packages of 5.2LPA and highest placement packages of 20 LPA as per their officials. Companies like TCS, Paypal, wipro etc came here for recruitment.

So as per this comparison IIITDM Kancheepuram have better figure in terms of placement packages over NIT uttarakhand as per their officials so you may apply in IIITDM as per my opinion.
