which components should be made as good as possible if we want to get into IIM BANGALORE with 0 work experience i.e. after Bachelors degree? Also tell the same for IIM Calcutta.

Purbayan Chatterjee 10th Sep, 2021

Hi Richie,

First and foremost, for IIMs (A/B/C) you need to score a very good percentile in CAT. Assuming you're a GEM (General category, Engineer and a Male), and have decent academic scores (i.e. 85% and above in your 10th and 12th and 80% and above in your graduation) your percentile should be no less than 99.4 - 99.5.

Now, coming to specific B-Schools. IIM C gives less importance to your past academics and more to CAT and further processes (WAT, PI). So even if you have a poor score in 10th / 12th / graduation (obviously more than 70%), you still stand a chance by acing your CAT paper.

IIM B on the other hand gives a lot of weightage to your past academics. Therefore if you're not someone with 90% and above in both 10th and 12th, you might face serious competitions and if you have a poor score then you might want to drop the dream of IIM B.

But you can still look for IIM A, as it is more balanced than IIM B and doesn't necessarily put that much weight on your past academics.

Hope this helps.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 25th Jul, 2021

hi,

see if we have to predict college based on your cat percentile, you have decent chances for selection of IIM ahmedabad, iim bangalore, iim kolkata , iim lucknow etc.

however iims has selection based on the section wise cat percentile, candidates over all academic records, work experiences etc. so it would depends on the particular institute and their eligibility criteria for that particular years. based on students review because of average academic records apart from scoring hign in CAT, candidates may not select for top iims like ahmedabad, bengalore, kolkata etc.

however do not loose hope, there is many others institute available and you can get tier 1 institute if you have good cat score. so sincerely prepare for the upcoming exam.

Hi , i have scored 97% in 10th and 94% in 12th & 83% in my graduation (bsc agriculture ) i really wanted to do my MBA In agri business management from IIM Bangalore . could you please suggest me on how to get into iimb?

shreyakhedkar05 17th Jul, 2021
Hello,
Agribusiness Management is a study related to system-wide business and managerial functions in Agrisector business. Many prestigious B-schools offer this course.
As you have asked about the selection process for  agri business management it is done through CAT. It is a Common Admission Test conducted by IIMs. Based on your CAT score IIM shortlists candidates for their second stage of selection. The selection process includes a written ability test (WAT) and a personal interview(PI). IIM consider previous academic records , relevant work experience while shortlisting and ranking them at various stages during the admission process. The MBA course in agribusiness management in IIMs is called post- graduation program in food and agribusiness management (PGP-FABM).
Currently, it is offered by two IIMs-IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Lucknow. IIM-B doesn't offer this course. But you can do your MBA from any of this two after qualifying CAT as these two are also the best Bschool in India giving excellent academics and placement.

I have 80% in class 10th and 66.7% in class 12th from TS board. Are my academics too low for IIM A/B/C? Thank you in advance.

Anurag Khanna 13th May, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

The academic record mentioned by you is quite average for getting calls from IIMs but yes if you score your CAT percentile more than 99.5 than you will have good chances to get call from the top known IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and so on. Also you have not mentioned the percentage of your graduation so it is quite difficult to give you more accurate prediction because percentage in graduation is also considered during shortlisting of candidates by IIMs.

To make you more clear let us discuss about admission criteria of all the IIMs which you have mentioned :-
