my 10th 12th grad sccores are 86,82,57. I am an maths graduate from presidency UNIVERSITY.I am an SC student.I have been preparing for UPSC for last 2 and half years. BUT I cant crack it. SO I want to give CAT this year. HOW much percentile I have to get to get IIM CALCUTTA. please help me

Shreya Singh Student Expert 2nd Aug, 2020

Hello,

Your marks are quiet good. As you belong to SC category, it will give you an advantage to clear CAT as the cutoff is less for SC/ST category. However for IIM Calcutta, the cutoffs of previous years papers were 70 percentile for SC category. But remember cutoffs do vary every year and depend on the toughness of paper, the no of candidates appearing in it and so on.

All the best.

I am pursuing my engineering. I have scored 89(10th), 70(12th). am I eligible to get admission in iim c or iim l

ANUJA 30th Jun, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

Only academic scores are not enough to crack IIMs. You have to obtain qualifying percentile in CAT to get admission in IIM C or IIM I . Your academic scores are quite good. In simple terms, IIMs give a certain weightage to each score along with CAT Percentile, WAT, GD, PI, work experience. So there are certain criteria's on which the admission is done. For now, you are eligible but keep in mind to score in other criteria as well.

l am in class 10 so how should I start my preparation to give IIMC exam

Ketaki Dhotre Student Expert 26th May, 2020

Dear,

Start by knowing the right syllabus. To draw a clear cut preparation plan for the entrance exam, it is important  to have knowledge of the IIMC syllabus. The right books and study material are good assets to help crack the IIMC entrance exam. While the newspapers are good sources for current affairs and events. Some books you can refer are:

1.Popular Master Guide for Journalism & Mass Communication Entrance Examination by R Gupta

2. Handbook of Mass Communication (Theory and Practice)-V K Joshi

3.Mass Communication Journalism Entrance Examination of All Indian Universities-Arihant

A significant aspect of preparation for IIMC entrance exam is to learn from the mistakes made during the course of preparation.and while solving papers. The trick is to understand where it went wrong and how to rectify it.

You can refer the entire syllabus and past papers on the following site: https://media.careers360.com/articles/iimc-entrance-exam

Hope this helps!
