i have 92% in 10 th ,79% in 12 ,74% in graduation (mathematics honours).what percentile in cat can definitely secure my seat in iim Calcutta?

Abhishek Roy 13th Feb, 2021

Having a more or less Average Academic Background, being from Non Engineering, hence less competitive category, I believe securing anything between 99.4-99.7 will be sufficient to ensure a call from IIMC. For any other General-Engineer-Male, having an average academic background, the Cut is nearly higher between 99.7-100. However, this will only ensure you receive a Call from IIMC. Further you need to nail the GD/PI and WAT to secure your seat at IIMC.

WHY I DID NOT ELIGIBLE FOR TOP 6 IIMS 69 % IN 10TH 63% IN 12TH 99.72 % IN BSC 99.94 % IN CAT IIM BANGALORE IIM KOZHIKODE IIM AHMEDABAD IIM CALCUTTA IIM LUCKNOW ARE DIE NOT ELIGIBLE WHY ????

Abhishek Roy 28th Jan, 2021

Ideally you should have been eligible or atleast received a Call from 3 of the Top IIMs, BLACKI. Being from Non Engineering Background, and secondly after Securing 99.94 Percentile in CAT, its highly unusual. However, it does happen, and you may have lost points for your average Academic Record as well as Points due to No Work Experience.

However, Do keep hope, as All IIMs have yet not released their Call Lists. Secondly, their are many Excellent Management Institutes other than IIMs like Management Schools of Top IITs like VGSOM, SJSOM, DMS IIT Delhi as well as Top Management Institutes like FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, SPJIMR, NITIE and JBIMS Mumbai, and you must participate in the respective application processes.

Can i get a call from IIM C,K if low academic score class 10/12/graduation are 72/68/74.Any chance be there

Anurag Khanna 28th Nov, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

See your academic record is average so you need to get little higher percentile in CAT to get either IIM Calcutta or IIM Kozhikode as these IIMs are known as top IIMs and there fore the cut-offs are also quite high. So in order to get a call from either of the IIMs you need to secure your percentile at least 98 or more.

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of previous year's selection results and only CAT percentile but while shortlisting of candidates for WAT/GD-PI round academic criteria of candidate also comes in play means your academic performance in class 10th and 12th, you graduation percentage, graduation background and Job experience is also considered for admission to IIMs and other B-Schools in India and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

To check the cut-off of all IIMs and other B-schools, kindly check out the link given below :-

You can also use CAT Pathfinder to know your chances to get call from IIMs or other B-Schools :-

I hope this information helps you.

Good Luck!!

Mrinalini Sarkar 19th Nov, 2020

Hello,

As you have mentioned that you belong to OBC category so for getting admission in IIM Calcutta you need to be an excellent student. Your 10th and 12th scores are not that good but since you improved such tremendously I think that the older scores would not affect you so much but you need to score more than 85% overall to get admission.

Hope it helps.

Good luck.

I have studied upto 9th in regular state board and I studied 10th grade in distance mode and 12th inregular mode and also graduation inregular mode.Am i eligible to appear CATexam, and my 10th grade marks are considered along with 12th and graduation marks in selection of iim Calcutta, plsits urgent

Sharon Rose Student Expert 14th Nov, 2020

Hello,

Eligibility criteria to appear for CAT is that a candidate must have passed bachelor's degree from a recognised board. Candidates belonging to general category/EWS/OBC-NCL must score minimum 50% aggregate or equivalent CGPA. Candidates belonging to SC/ST must score minimum 45% marks or equivalent CGPA. Candidates who are appearing in the final year of the qualifying exam are also eligible. So if you score the required percentage you are eligible.

Final admission in to IIMs is based on marks scored in CAT, past academic performance, experience and performance in the interview. As long as you have passed class 10th from a recognised board you will be eligible for the admission provided you must fulfill all other requirements.

Can any one, explain me the whole admission process of iim Calcutta? Im a bca dataanalytics graduate non engineer, frm OBC category.,Explain me about cutt off and everything about proccess very clearly. Please reply me quickly.

Hello aspirant,

You want to understand the procedure for admission in IIM CALCUTTA. You have completed your bachelor's in BCA data analytics. Since this is a non Engineering background, you can expect a call from IIM Calcutta at lower percentile as compared to btech mtech students.
The admission process consists of 2 phases. First phase is the CAT percentile calculation. Based on CAT percentile only you will get a call from IIMs for interviews. Minimum CAT percentile for an OBC candidate is 75 percentile to expect a call from IIM CALCUTTA. Phase 2 is about shortlisting for personal interview.  For this they have various criteria and points based on 10th , 12th , graduation CGPA and work experience.
You will get 10 points if you have scored 80% + in your 10th and 12th boards.
Your graduation CGPA will be converted into percentage and points will be given accordingly.
After calculation of these points , based in them final points will be calculated out of 100.
On this basis candidates will be selected for final selection. The weightage of all the criterias are mentioned below.
CAT score - 30
Personal interview- 48
Written ability test - 10
Point granted for academic diversity at bachelor's degree for non Engineering background- 4
Work experience- 8

Since you have no work experience you will get zero points for that. To gain points you will have to gain managerial work experience.
For detailed information you can refer this article. It will completely clarify your doubt regarding iim Calcutta admission.

I hope I have answered your query satisfactorily.

they are telling that we should upload original documents for kcet ......but we should get attestation on xerox ones......is it correct ......pls tell which has to be got attested and which has to be uploaded??

handukanika 6th Sep, 2020

Hello,
Yes the original documents need to be uploaded for kcet and while attending counselling you need to have both originals and xerox with you.
The xerox needs to be attested not the originals, They will keep a few attested xerox copies with their record and geive you the original documents, which you'd have to submit in your college.
Hope this helps
