can you tell me what is the process to make admission in mba in iim

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 5th Nov, 2019
Hello there!

Greetings!

If you want to get into IIM for your mba then first of all you need to complete your graduation and then you need to write the exam called CAT as iims provide admission in mba on the basis of CAT. Now to be eligible for CAT exam you must have done your bachelors degree with at least 50% marks (for general category) and 45 percent marks (for SC, ST and PWD category) or equivalent CGPA for recognized university.IIMs will shortlist candidates for final admission round on the basis of CAT 2019 score and on other parameters such as past academic qualification, diversity, work experience etc. After  CAT   candidates are shortlisted by all the IIMs and then they conduct written ability test (WAT) and personal interview (PI) round and then on the basis of all these you will be finally selected for admission.  For detailed information go through our page for which link is provided below :-

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 3rd Sep, 2019
Hello aspirant,

As per the information provided by you, your score in academics are too low for getting you into IIM. Now most of the IIMs take admission on the basis of both cat score and acads. When it'll come to academics your score is too low to get you a call from iim. To get complete details on admission into IIM please visit the given link:-

Got 72% in 10th, 66.20% in 12th, 60% in grad so can i do mba/pgdm from iim/xlri i mean will i be eligible?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 2nd Sep, 2019
Dear Aryan, IIMs shortlist candidates for the interview stage based on their own criteria, which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interviews. Performance in the CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may additionally use other factors such as the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs. The following numbers might look confusing but if you can score this percentage against your Category, you can actually secure a call from IIMs and XLRI.

Pgp, fabm, etc, what are these terms in iim of cat application form, can I have to fill all iim related to this term?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 2nd Sep, 2019
Dear Rahul, these are various programmes offered at various IIMs.

  • PGP-FABM is a Post Graduate Programme in Food and Agri Business Management course offered in IIM Ahmedabad. The selection of candidates for admission to PGP-FABM at IIM Ahmedabad is a two-step process. In the first step, candidates will be short-listed for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews from among candidates who have applied for the programme and have a valid CAT score and satisfy the eligibility criteria for the programme.

  • PGP stands for Post Graduation Programme in Management

In regards to Selection of IIM Programmes and Cities, you can select any no.of programmes and cities. Make sure you select the same city for Interview across. And for exam centre, you can give 4 options and the authorities will select your exam city for you. So in short, you have to select the programme that you are interesred in that particular IIM.
