Dear sir, I got 93% in class 10th, 67%in 12th, can I get any good iim or any top mba college if I clear cat? Please read properly then ans.

harshitasharansrivastava Student Expert 13th Aug, 2019
Hi Rahul,

Definitely you can get into any top - bschool for mba in india if you score good in cat. Also since you haven't mentioned your graduation score therefore i cannot say whether you'll be able to get profile based call or not. But your 10th marks are good. Also of you manage to get 95+ percentile in Cat then you can easily get into any top bschool of India. Whereas if we talk about IIM A B and C, then you might face some difficulties. Although you can get into new IIMs.

Hope this helps.. All the best..

I have 92% in 10th std. 75% in 12th std. I am learning in last year BE. My cgpa till the 6th semester is 7.0..My required cat score for iim?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 20th Aug, 2019
Dear Prakash, all this while IIMs had been considering overall CAT score for further rounds of shortlisting. But for the past 2 years, they have been considering sectional weightage for CAT composite score. And that's not it. Because each IIM is independent of other IIMs admission and selection criteria, the weightage being given for each Academic section like weightage given to 10th, 12th and Graduation marks differ. And these are added to the Written Ability Test and Personal Interviews. While FMS gives importance to VARC section, most IIMs give importance to QA section. For example, IIM Indore follows this formula to shortlist candidates:

10th Standard: 36*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]

12th Standard: 40*[Z Candidate-Z min/Z max- Z min]

CAT 2019 score: 20*[Candidate's overall score /Highest CAT score]

Gender Diversity Factor: = 4 for female applicants

                                                 =0 for other applicants

Composite score= sum of the above scores

While other IIMs directly give 60-75% weightage to CAT score, the remaining is weighed upon your Academics, Work Experience if applicable, Diversity factor, etc. Just not that, Because CAT exam will be held at different slots, CAT scores will be normalised to ensure equivalence in the difficulty levels of the exams for both slots. IIM Kozikhode will normalise the CAT scores using percentile equivalence. Adjustment of location and scale differences of score distributions across different norms and then scores will be normalised. These scores will be then converted into percentiles for shortlisting and selection purposes. Over all, the required percentages might be:

General Category: 95+

OBC-NCL: 85+

SC: 65+

ST: 55+

In 10th 93% , 12th67% can I elligible to take admission in iim. Is my 10th and 12th marks is good for iim?

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 12th Aug, 2019
Hello,

Your eligibility depends on how you will perform in CAT examination. If you want to go to IIMs then you will have to score more then 99 percentile.Though your marks in 10th in good but your 12th marks is average though you will also have to be graduated to appear for CAT and your marks in graduation should also be good.

I hope this helps.

Dear sir, I have no work experience then I elligible to take admission in iim or not?

Joydeep Saha Student Expert 13th Aug, 2019
Hey Rahul !
Although having a Work Experience isn't necessary to be elligible to procure a seat in IIM, but if you do have any Work Experience then your chances of getting a seat is improved because, for an overall selection in an IIM, there's a slight weightage given to work experience supplemented by CAT Percentile, Graduation records and Class10, Class 12 scores.
Even a survey of IIM Students showed that nearly 2/3rd of the students had a work experience before joining one.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck !

Dear sir, I got 93% in class 10th and 67% in class 12th.Can I elligible to get admission in iim if I clear cat and graduation? Please

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 20th Aug, 2019
Dear Rahul, there are 20 IIMs in India. And all the 20 IIMs have their own Selection Criteria.Now your 10th, 12th and Graduation marks carry a weightage of 5-7.5% depending on the IIM you are interested in. Few IIMs like IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow, etc conduct Written Ability Test, Personal Interview and then the Final Selection Process follows. The basic eligibility criteria remains the same but off late IIMs have been giving Sectional weightage to CAT composite score. For example;

IIM Ahmedabad:
                                    QA            DLR         VARC        Overall
General:                     70              70             70               80

SC:                              60              60             60               70
ST:                              50              50             50               60
PwD-UR,OBC,SC:    60              60             60                70
PwD: ST:                   50             50              50               60

IIM Bangalore:

NC-OBC:                  70                70               75                80
SC:                            65                65              70                 75
ST:                            60                60              60                 70
PwD:                        50                50              50                 50

IIM Calcutta:
                                  QA          DLR          VRC         Over All
OPEN:                      75             80             80                85
NC-OBC:                  65             65             70                75
EWS:                        65             65             70                75
SC:                           60             60             65                 70

IIM Indore:
                                  QA             DLR        VARC         Overall
General                    80                80            80                90
NC-OBC                   70                70            70                80
SC                             55                55            55                60
ST                             45                45            45                50
PwD                         45                45            45                 50

IIM Lucknow:
                                       QA          DLR        VARC        Overall
General                         85             85            85               90
NC-OBC                        77             77            77                82
SC                                  55             55            55                70
ST                                  50             50            50                 65
PwD                              50             50            50                 65

Method of scoring can be found on the official website of the IIMs you are interested in. Those candidates who are eligible after these 2 roumds are called for Written Ability and Personal Interview Test. The final score is calculated based on this scale for IIM Lucknow:

Common Admission Test: 30

Academic Performance (12th + Graduation): 5+5

Diversity Factor (DF academics +DF gender): 5

Work Experience: 5

Writing Ability Test: 10

Personal Interview: 40

Final Score: 100

Because CAT exam will be held at different slots, CAT scores will be normalised to ensure equivalence in the difficulty levels of the exams for both slots. IIM Kozikhode will normalise the CAT scores using percentile equivalence. Adjustment of location and scale differences of score distributions across different norms and then scores will be normalised. These scores will be then converted into percentiles for shortlisting and selection purposes. So more or less to get a call from an IIM, your CAT percentile should be nothing less than 95%.

i want to know that is any iim is good or only a,b,c

Navneetbajpai1999_5625736 Student Expert 12th Aug, 2019

Hi,

IIM A is generally preferred over B and C – thanks to the strong perception that it is the best B-School in the country. But I have known quite a few students who have preferred C or B over A – and they have not regretted the decision. I have recently written a blog comparing the three biggies of the Indian B-School Segment. In this blog, I have compared the 3 biggies as objectively as possible and hopefully, this should help you to choose the best-fit B-School for you.

Thanks

What is the difference between New Candidate Registration and Registration for Non- IIM Institutions CAT 2019

shruti jha Student Expert 11th Aug, 2019

Hi Subhanshu,

While registering yourself for CAT exam you will find 3 options as:-

1.New candidate registration

2.Registered candidate login

3.Registration for non-iim institutions

So, it is pretty clear that if any candidate wishes to apply for both iim as well as non-iim institutions then they are required to register as both "new candidate" as well as "non-iim registration".

Because if you only registered usibg the new cabdidate option then you will be allowed to sit for iim's counsellings only and not for the non-iim's ones.

So, its upto you that how will be apply.

Good luck .
