Hi.
You can get into IISC Bangalore through JEE Mains rank for B.Sc degree. Also what do you mean by 80% because if you mean 80 percentile then unfortunately you are not qualified for admission into IISC Bangalore because the closing ranks were as follows:
If you have a further specific query please feel free to comment.
Best of Luck.
Hello aspirant,
As you mentioned that you want to enquire about your chances of getting admission into IISc Bangalore.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore was established in the year 1909 by the Indian Government. IISc was started with the joint efforts of Jamsetji Nussarwanji Tata, the Government of India and the Maharaja of Mysore.
The basic criterion for admission to IISc through JEE Mains is getting a minimum percentage of scores.
60% translating to 216/360 for general
54% translating to 195/360 for OBC-NCL
30% translating to 108/360 for SC/ST
However the cut-offs are way higher.
Year 2015:
General 325
OBC-NCL 250 -> 194
SC 220
ST 108
And everyone getting selected, regardless of category, having less than 285 marks need to attend an interview.
Year 2014:
General 295
OBC-NCL 204 -> 215 -> 196
SC 108 -> 160 -> 108
And everyone getting selected, regardless of category, having less than 275 marks need to attend an interview.
All those satisfying the necessary cut off and scoring above the minimum marks, are guaranteed admission. Others after clearing interview can be admitted.
If the seats reserved to be filled through JEE Mains is not fully filled, there is a chance for the cut-off to be lowered during subsequent counseling sessions.
All the best

The cut off marks for the candidates of different categories in the JEE ( Main ) stream are: 295(General); 230(OBC-NCL); 225(SC); 108(ST), 200(KM) and 230(PH). The cut-off will be assessed as part of trends in previous years, seat availability, reserve groups, labelling scheme, number of applicants and several other considerations. This cutoff changes every year.
To be eligible to study MS Astronomy and Astrophysics you must have passed B.E/B.tech in the following streams or it's equivalent
OR
M.S./ M.Sc. in
Considering the education eligibility requirements you are not eligible to apply for MS Astronomy and Astrophysics in IIST.
See if you are interested in Theoretical Physics then CMI is the best option for you to enrich research standards and mathematical proficiency.
If you are not sure about that and you want to explore both the experimental as well as theoretical physics and then build your research perspective then it would be better to be in IISC. IISC is also good in theoretical physics and one of the premiere institute.
So this is my perspective of taking decision. It may differ but this is pruposeful.
Have a great day!
Hi Aspirant,
You cannot take admission in IISC Bangalore solely on your CBSE board percentage.It is true that eligibility criteria demands you need to pass in boards and for admission in Bsc you need a valid KVPY,JEE MAIN,NEET UG score.So you need to crack exams to get into this college in addition to board exams.For PG Course you need to have a valid score GATE,GMAT or JEST.
Hope it helps!!
IISC Bangalore doesn't have any MSc zoology course. If you seek admission in IISC then you have to qualify IIT JAM with Biotechnology and you can get admission in Integrated PhD course of Biological sciences.
Have a great eve!
