what exams can i give after 3 yr bsc hons programme (physics/electronics) to join iisc for further studies /research?

Vishnupriya 23rd Jun, 2019

Hi Navadeep,

To join IISc for further studies, you can apply for integrated M.Sc-PhD programme. To apply for this, you would have clear IIT-JAM entrance exam. You can appear for this exam in your third year. Acquiring a rank less than 50 in this exam can ensure a placement in the institute.

All The Best.

ipsita_1526403689 Student Expert 23rd Jun, 2019

Hey,

Your marks is really low for getting admission in an Institute like IISC. Please try for other colleges as it is impossible to get IISC.

You can check from the College predictor to know about the probable colleges you might get admission in.

Milind Sinha 21st Jun, 2019

Hello Abhijeet,

IISC Bangalore accepts admissions through various sources such as JEE Main, JEE advanced, KVPY.

The SC cutoffs of all these sources were the following respectively:

1) All the ranks upto 80 (category rank) of KVPY were called for counseling.

2) Ranks till 40000 (CRL) of JEE main are called for counseling.

3) Ranks till 16000 (CRL) of JEE advanced are called for counseling.

Best of luck.

Yes, you can refer to coaching's notes for preparation. It's your clarity of concepts and practice which eventually matter.

Which courses can I get in IISC or IITs after completing my BTech in ICE and getting a decent score in gate also?

shubhangi verma 19th Jun, 2019
Hello,

After completing your B.tech in ICE, to get admission into IISC or IITs, you really need to have a good GATE score and your rank should be in top 500.

In IISC, microelectronics and VLSI design course comes under electronic system of engineering department where the intake is 30 and only 500 top rank holders are called for written test followed by interview and mostly questions are asked from GATE syllabus of EC. The eligible Gate papers for this course is EC,EE,IN,CS. So you will be eligible for this course.

For IITs, i suggest you can either go for IIT kharagpur or IIT Roorkee.

The courses offered in IIT kharagpur are joint Mtech-Phd programs. So following is list for Gate paper IN

1.Embedded control and software

2.Cryogenic engineering

3.Multimedia information processing

4.Medical imaging and informatics

In IIT Roorkee, which also provide Mtech courses with Phd. The following courses which comes under electrical engineering department you can consider.

1.Instrumentation and signal

2.Systems and control

So now it totally depends on you which course interests you most in future and follow it accordingly. For more related info you should check there official website because sometimes they may change there number of intake of students or eligibility criteria.

Hope this will help you.

I scored 124 marks in jee adv but was not able to qualify it can i get admission in IISC OR IISERs? I not what are the better options for me

Raghav bahuguna 16th Jun, 2019

Dear aspirant,

IISc takes admission on basis of your kvpy score or your jee mains rakings . So if youhave opted for the jee mains option while filling the form for iisc you will be able to get admission if you clear the cut off. As for IISER they also take admission on the basis of your mains ranking . they also confuct there own entrance test you can select which option suits you the best .

So if you meet the cut off for IIsc and iiser then you will get admission on basis of your jee mains score.

All the best
