I got 71 marks in EE, gen category. Gate Score is showing 740. Are there chances of getting into inter-disciplinary courses at IISc?

Pulkit 19th Feb, 2019

Hello Bhupen,

With this marks it is difficult to get into IISc Electrical branch if you belongs to general category but if you belong to any reserve category than you might have some chance.

But it totally depends upon no. Of candidates applying for the admission and also every year the cutoff changes so you can only predict as of now.

But meanwhile I'm providing you the link where you can see last years cutoff of IISc with different branches and different categories so that it will help you to get some idea

Nithesh 19th Feb, 2019
hii lucky
You scored good marks. I think, for get call from PSU, your chance is less.
You have to score more than 75+ for get PSU call.
For IITs, your GATE score is near about to 800.
Here is the cut off trends of previous year for IITs

Im getting 49 marks in 2019 EE gate paper I belong to SC category is there any chance for getting job in any psus or mtech in iits or iisc

rajaman9300 Student Expert 19th Feb, 2019

Hello Hritik

If you are getting 49 marks in SC category then Converting into General marks it will be somewhat 74 or 75. This General marks has nothing to do with your selection.

But, yes you can get most of the IIT's and if given chance please go for IITB which is the best for ELectrical.

Now coming to the PSU's - Chances are bleak as the competetion will be high because question was easy this time hence chances are low but still you can get shorlisted in some of them like CIL (conducts their own exam as well), BMEL, ONGC.

Selection wil be fully dependent on your interview and other selection exam part which will be conducted by the respective PSU's

Is the BTech course available through Jee main

Kshitij Anand 17th Feb, 2019
  1. JEE Mains is a pan-India entrance examination, conducted for admission into top NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and a few other state-funded universities.
  2. The JEE Mains is also considered as a qualifying examination for the JEE Advanced, which is considered one of the toughest examinations in the world.
  3. It provides admits into the prestigious IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and ISM (Indian School of Mines), Danbad. Admits to BE (Bachelor of Engineering), BTech (Bachelor of Technology) and B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) degrees are provided by the exam.

Eligibility:

  1. All students who have passed 12th standard and having an age less than 25 are eligible to appear for JEE Mains.
  2. It can be attempted a maximum of 3 times, and the student must have taken up Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with either one of Chemistry or Biotechnology, to be considered eligible.

Details about the exam:

  1. The exam has a maximum score of 360, and approximately 1.2 million students appear for it every year across India, to get admitted into the famed NITs.
  2. Out of this, around 2 lakh students - half seats being reserved - are considered qualified for JEE Advanced.
  3. Until 2017, 12th standard board exam marks were also considered for JEE Mains rankist - at least 75% marks, or in the top 20 percentile in the qualifying examination. Thus, even if your rank scored for Mains were a bit below par, if you’ve performed considerably well in your Boards, you would be able to obtain a seat in the above-mentioned colleges.
  4. However, this has been removed this year as Board exam marks are not going to be considered for preparing JEE Mains ranklists.

Syllabus and type of questions:

  1. The exam is tougher compared to the boards, with much more conceptual questions and questions of varying difficulty.
  2. Subjects being tested include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  3. The syllabus to be followed is more or less the same as the Board exam, but more care needed to be applied in answering properly.
  4. The questions are of Multiple Choice type, with 4 marks for each correct answer and a penalty of 1 mark for each wrongly marked choice.
  5. There is an option for choosing between offline and online exam for BE and BTech students. However only offline mode exists for BArch students.

Does IISC Banglore offer UG engineering courses?

Deepshikha Student Expert 18th Feb, 2019
Hey,
IISC does not offer UG course in Engineering. It doesn't offer any B.Tech degree. However,it does offer M.Tech degree.
IISC is all about research related programmes.
Indian Institute of Science offers four year Bachelor of Science Programme in six major disciplines namely Biology,Chemistry,Earth and Environment Science,Materials,Mathematics and Physics.
The Bachelor of Science programme is divided into eight semesters.
However you will get to study engineering in first three semesters where you would be required to take one course each in Physics,Chemistry,Mathematics,Biology,Engineering and Humanities.
In the fourth to sixth semester you would need to choose a discipline of specialisation among Biology,Chemistry,Earth and  Environmental Science,Materials,Mathematics and Physics. In addition to these you would need to choose a Minor discipline and one Elective Course in Engineering along with one seminar course in Humanities.
Hope this helps.
If you need any information regarding the eligibility criteria do follow the link given below:
